WVR - On the evening of February 2, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized the Binh Ngo Homeland Spring 2026 program for the Vietnamese community in Greece to celebrate the traditional Tet holiday.

The highlight of the event was the ceremony for presenting the 11th National External Information Awards to Greek partners who collaborated with the Vietnamese Embassy to organize the Vietnam Film Week in Greece in 2025 and translated a book on President Ho Chi Minh's biography into Greek.

Joining the celebration of the new Spring were about 120 Vietnamese residents in Greece, guests from the Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Greek friends who love Vietnam, and ambassadors from Cuba, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Notably, Greek parliamentarian Zetta Makri, Chairwoman of the Greece-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group, was present.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong reviewed the milestones and achievements in Vietnam-Greece relations in 2025 – the year marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. She also affirmed the important role and contributions of the Vietnamese community in Greece, an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, serving as a bridge of friendship and conducting people-to-people diplomacy with international friends and Greece.

The Ambassador informed the community about the national development goals and foreign policy recently approved by the 14th National Party Congress, major national events in 2026, and hoped that the community would remain united, look towards their homeland, and contribute to nation-building.

On behalf of the community liaison committee, Fotini Sarantidou Nguyen Bach Tuyet expressed the joy of overseas Vietnamese when they gather at the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece at the end of each year, a common home and reliable support for the community for the past 15 years.

The Vietnamese community takes pride in the activities implemented by the Embassy in 2025 – a golden milestone in the relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the program, Zetta Makri, Chairwoman of the Greece-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group, expressed her delight at participating in the Vietnamese Tet celebration.

She affirmed the traditional friendly relations between the two countries, especially the close cooperation between the two parliaments in 2025 and plans for the future.

Despite geographical distance, both countries share common principles and values. Greece always wishes to promote bilateral relations and is ready to act as a bridge between Vietnam and the EU, enhancing Greece's presence in Southeast Asia.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece presented the second prize and consolation prize of the 11th National External Information Awards to Velissarios Kossivakis, translator Vasiliki Kappa, and the New Star Cinema group for their contributions in honoring President Ho Chi Minh and promoting the image of Vietnam and its people.

In a warm atmosphere, guests enthusiastically participated in a fun program with prizes, enjoyed special dishes, and celebrated the Year of the Horse according to Vietnamese tradition.
