During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026), and the 140th International Labour Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026), construction sites of units under the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) continued to push forward, maintaining a steady pace of work through the holidays. As a result, many important projects were completed, joining in the nationwide celebration.
Tri An Hydropower Expansion: Successful connection of Hieu Liem bridge
The Hieu Liem Bridge (Tri An Commune, Dong Nai Province), a strategic infrastructure component for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, was officially connected at 7:45 AM on May 1.
At 7:45 AM on May 1, 2026, the Hieu Liem Bridge (Tri An Commune, Dong Nai Province) – a key infrastructure component for the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project – was officially connected. Despite challenges such as slow site clearance, fluctuating weather and river water levels, and difficulties in bridge girder installation, this significant milestone was achieved after 1 year and 4 months of construction.

In terms of regional planning, the Hieu Liem Bridge plays a crucial role in completing the inter-regional transportation network, ensuring seamless connectivity between Dong Nai Province and neighboring areas of Ho Chi Minh City. For the residents of Tri An Commune, the bridge's connection and eventual operation hold significant meaning. For decades, transportation and goods movement across the Dong Nai River relied on the Hieu Liem ferry. Once the bridge is completed, this mode of transport will be replaced, thereby reducing risks during the rainy season and significantly shortening travel time.
The Hieu Liem Bridge is a key component of the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project – currently the largest hydropower plant in the southern region. The project is invested by EVN, managed by the Project Management Board 3 (EVNPMB3), with a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND. The expansion includes two units, adding 200MW of capacity.
Following the connection, EVNPMB3 and contractors continue efforts to bring the bridge into operation by the end of June 2026, facilitating the acceleration of the entire project, with the goal of commissioning the plant by the end of 2027.

Impressive progress on the Southern Power Grid
During the recent holiday period, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) and related units energized a series of 110kV projects, achieving the goal of 51 projects in the first four months of 2026. Notably, the 220kV Nhon Trach City (Dong Nai) substation project was successfully energized on the night of April 30.
This is a practical gift celebrating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the 51st anniversary of EVNSPC's establishment, contributing to enhancing the ability to provide safe and stable electricity, supporting high economic growth and the living needs of the people.
To ensure construction progress, many key and urgent 110kV grid projects invested by EVNSPC maintained a steady pace of work throughout the holidays. EVNSPC leaders and member units directly visited construction sites to motivate workers during the holidays.

It can be said that this achievement is due to the relentless efforts and solidarity of thousands of electricity sector employees and contractors who consistently stayed on site, maintaining a steady construction pace. It is also the result of close coordination between local authorities and EVNSPC, along with support from residents in the project areas.
Following the groundbreaking and energizing of projects in the first four months of the year, EVNSPC is continuing to focus efforts on achieving the goal of energizing 70 110kV projects before June 30 and 105 220kV-110kV projects in 2026. Construction through the holidays aims to take advantage of favorable weather conditions in the southern region, accelerating project progress.

Enhancing power supply for the North
Meanwhile, the power transmission sector is also rushing to complete many important projects to ensure power supply for the North, especially during the peak dry season of 2026.
On April 30, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), in coordination with the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) and related units, energized shunt capacitors at 16 220–500kV substations in the northern region, following the directive in Resolution No. 31-NQ/DU dated March 21, 2026, of the EVN Party Committee.
The completion of the installation helps increase the power supply capacity for the North before the hot season, enhancing system stability, reducing losses, thereby improving the business efficiency of the entire Group. This is the result of implementing directives from the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and EVN on ensuring power supply.
On April 29, EVNNPT and related units successfully energized the project to increase the capacity of the 500kV Hoa Binh Substation, raising its capacity from 1,350MVA to 1,800MVA. This project is significant in reducing overload, increasing transmission capacity from the Northwest hydropower, ensuring stable electricity for Phu Tho, Hanoi, and northern provinces.
These tireless efforts clearly demonstrate the determination and responsibility of electricity sector employees and contractors in meeting the power needs for economic and social development and the people's livelihoods.
