Vietnam attends the 19th Asian Defense and National Security Exhibition in Malaysia

On April 20, the delegation attended the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Defense Exhibition (DSA) and the Asian National Security Exhibition (NATSEC) 2026, presided over by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The Asian Defense Exhibition DSA 2026 gathers approximately 50,000 trade visitors, 600 civilian and high-level Ministry of Defense delegations from 60 countries, including 38 countries participating in displays and about 1,400 leading global defense industry companies and corporations.
This year's exhibition showcases 15 thematic groups, highlighting modern military products such as aircraft, warships, armored vehicles, shoulder-fired low-range missiles, anti-aircraft gun systems, laser guns, and various munitions, military uniforms, and equipment for defense purposes. Prominent technology fields include electronic warfare, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, multi-regional warfare, robotics, and unmanned systems, military medicine.
The participation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense in the exhibition demonstrates its interest in international cooperation in the defense industry, affirming that the Government and Ministry of Defense of Vietnam always facilitate the enhancement of international exchange and cooperation in the defense industry on principles of equality, mutual benefit, respect for Vietnamese law, and other international commitments.
Within the framework of the Exhibition, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang engaged in bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from several countries; along with the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense delegation, he visited booths, promoted exchanges, explored cooperation possibilities suitable to each party's capabilities, and strengthened Vietnam's defense industry cooperation with other countries in the future.

On this occasion, later in the day, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Deputy Minister of Defense, met with Malaysian Deputy Minister of Defense Adly Bin Zahari.
Deputy Minister Adly Bin Zahari expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense for sending a delegation to the exhibition, emphasizing that this is an opportunity for both sides to enhance exchanges and promote cooperation.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang highly appreciated the scale and professionalism in the organization of the DSA 2026 Exhibition, affirming that Vietnam always values strengthening friendly relations and developing substantive cooperation with Malaysia, in line with the legitimate interests of the peoples of both countries, for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in each country, in the region, and globally.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Vietnam was pleased to note the positive developments in defense cooperation between the two countries in recent times, including exchanges of delegations at all levels, active support, and delegation participation in international defense exhibitions, conferences, and seminars organized by each side.
During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to prioritize promoting increasingly comprehensive and substantive bilateral defense cooperation, focusing on delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, and coordinating the implementation of the Defense Policy Dialogue mechanism.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang expressed his desire for the Malaysian Ministry of Defense to support the promotion of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two governments on cooperation in law enforcement and search and rescue at sea, to soon sign an agreement to establish a joint patrol mechanism at sea and a communication channel between the navies of the two countries, to coordinate information exchange, law enforcement, assist each other's fishing vessels and fishermen in distress at sea, and to treat fishing vessels and fishermen humanely, supporting each other at forums and multilateral mechanisms.
Sharing the points raised by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Deputy Minister Adly Bin Zahari stated that Malaysia wishes to promote bilateral defense cooperation with Vietnam, confident that the relationship between the Ministries of Defense of the two countries will continue to develop for the benefit of each country, for peace, stability, and common development in the region and the world.
On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang cordially invited Deputy Minister Adly Bin Zahari, leaders of the Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces, and Malaysian defense enterprises to attend and display products at the third Vietnam International Defense Exhibition in December 2026 in Hanoi.
