“Vietnam Days” bring vibrant Vietnamese culture to the heart of Azerbaijan
WVR - The 4th "Vietnam Days" program took place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from July 29 to August 3, organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam.

The program featured representatives from the Management Board of the Icherisheher National Historical and Architectural Reserve, Vietnam National Academy of Music, Le Ngoc Theater, Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, Vietnam Film Institute, Vietnam Cinema Association, Vietnam Business Association, Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, Hanoi Radio and Television, and Flamingo Travel.
The activities within the program were organized to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the friendship between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, originating from President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Baku in July 1959, and to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
This year's “Vietnam Days” event was the largest ever in terms of the number of delegates, bringing together many prominent Vietnamese figures in the fields of science, education, music, cinema, and theater.

The program coincided with one of the most prestigious music events of the year – the Gabala International Music Festival. For the first time, leading Vietnamese musicians, led by People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, showcased Vietnamese music and culture at the festival over several days, leaving a profound impression on the public.
In an interview with the press, Bui Cong Duy shared that, following past traditions, Vietnamese students continue to study in Baku today.
Recalling that Azerbaijani artists have organized numerous rich music programs, the Deputy Director emphasized that the invitation to participate in the Gabala International Music Festival is a double joy and pride for Vietnam.

Traditionally, on the first day of the program, the delegation laid flowers at the Monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and visited the Memorial Room of President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.
This was followed by bilateral meetings at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and Baku State University (BSU). At BSU, a cultural and artistic program themed “Vietnam – Melodies of Identity” was organized with performances by Vietnamese artists.
Most of the Vietnamese youth who studied in Azerbaijan during Vietnam's resistance years attended these higher education institutions.
At the event held at Baku State University, the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Vietnam were played. Subsequently, documentaries showcasing the history of Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations, President Ho Chi Minh's 1959 visit to Azerbaijan, National Leader Heydar Aliyev's contributions to developing relations with Vietnam, and the modern phase of Azerbaijan-Vietnam friendship were screened.

Speaking at the event, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev and Nguyen The Ky, former member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), emphasized the development of cooperation between the two countries in education, science, and culture.
Notably, a video showcasing archival materials about prominent Vietnamese students who studied in Azerbaijan during the 1960s and 1970s drew special attention from the attending delegates.
Subsequently, an art program performed by Le Ngoc Theater and students of Baku State University was presented to the audience.
The program featured traditional music from both countries, folk songs, folk dances, and Vietnam's traditional art heritage recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Heydar Aliyev Center and held meetings with the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, the Digital Development and Innovation Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan Film Agency (ARKA).
The Vietnamese delegation also attended the event commemorating Azerbaijan's National Cinema Day. At the event, the book What I Saw in Vietnam by Azerbaijani film director Ajdar Ibrahimov – who played a key role in laying the foundation for Vietnam's film studio from 1959 to 1962 – was launched. Speeches by Do Lenh Hung Tu, President of the Vietnam Cinema Association, and Le Thi Ha, Director of the Vietnam Film Institute, garnered significant interest from the attending delegates.
The first visit of Vietnamese cinema experts to Azerbaijan attracted strong attention from the Azerbaijani film community, opening new opportunities for cooperation in the field of cinema.

Additionally, on August 1, an outdoor concert featuring Vietnamese artists took place at Icherisheher, a historical symbol of Baku, as part of the “Vietnam Days” series of events. The program attracted a large audience from Baku as well as international tourists.
Before the performance, souvenir products, handicrafts, and traditional Vietnamese dishes were displayed for visitors.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Trinh Thi Thu Ha, Principal of Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, reaffirmed the sustainable development of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Azerbaijan.
She acknowledged that joint projects implemented in various fields have significantly contributed to strengthening mutual trust between the peoples of the two countries and further expanding bilateral relations.
She also emphasized that “Vietnam Days” has become a beautiful tradition, expressing determination to continue maintaining these cultural projects and joint efforts to develop cooperation in new areas in the future.

The art program featured musical performances, traditional dances, and various unique forms of Vietnamese artistic expression, including traditional instrumental ensembles. Notably, opera singers performed excerpts in Vietnamese from the famous opera “Arshin Mal Alan” by composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
The event was attended by leaders of Azerbaijani higher education institutions, representatives of state agencies, and many prominent figures in the fields of culture and cinema.
The “Vietnam Days” initiative holds significant meaning in strengthening the strategic partnership and friendship between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, promoting cultural dialogue between the peoples of the two countries, and creating new forums for bilateral cooperation.
