Enhancing Vietnam–Azerbaijan cooperation in overseas citizens’ affairs: Deputy FM Le Thi Thu Hang

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang welcomed Fuad Muradov and the Azerbaijani delegation to Vietnam, affirming that the visit holds significant importance, contributing to the comprehensive and effective implementation of commitments and agreements between the leaders of the two countries, especially following the visit of General Secretary To Lam to Azerbaijan in May 2025.

Chairman Fuad Muradov expressed thanks for the warm reception by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs leadership and affirmed that Vietnam is a crucial partner in Azerbaijan's strategy to expand relations with countries in the Euro-Asian region. He expressed his impression of the country and its people, particularly the rapid and dynamic development of Vietnam's economy.

Chairman Fuad Muradov stated that Azerbaijan always values supporting its diaspora to nurture love for the homeland, strengthen national unity, and preserve the Azerbaijani identity and language within the community. He provided information on the activities of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan in recent times and proposed several cooperation programs and plans with Vietnam in this field in the future.

At the meeting, Chairman of the State Committee on Vietnamese Overseas Nguyen Trung Kien discussed activities supporting the overseas Vietnamese community, emphasizing that they are an inseparable part of the nation and a vital resource contributing to socio-economic development and strengthening foreign relations. Vietnam consistently supports the overseas Vietnamese community to develop and integrate well into their host societies, contributing to the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, as well as maintaining connections with the homeland.

Fuad Muradov thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its continuous support and effective role in coordinating, connecting, and promoting bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that with efforts from both sides, Vietnam - Azerbaijan cooperation will be strongly promoted across all fields, matching the potential and strengths of both parties.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that Vietnam - Azerbaijan relations are maintained and strengthened on the basis of high political trust, and establishing a Strategic Partnership is the foundation for the two countries to enhance cooperation in traditional fields as well as new areas, including diaspora affairs. She affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to closely coordinate with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies of both countries to decisively implement the commitments and agreements of the leaders of the two Parties and countries, bringing bilateral relations to a deeper, practical, and effective level in areas where both sides have strengths.

Both sides agreed to promptly coordinate in preparing for delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, as well as cultural and artistic exchange events in 2026. Regarding cooperation in diaspora affairs, both parties agreed to jointly study the establishment of a coordination mechanism between the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese and the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan, leveraging the role of the diaspora communities of both countries as a bridge of friendship, contributing positively to strengthening bilateral relations in the future.
