Signing of statistical cooperation agreement deepens Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations

Attendees included Ms. Nguyen Vu Ha Le, Director General of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Office of the President; Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), along with ambassadors and heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party Tahir Budaqov, recalled the visit to Vietnam three years ago by the New Azerbaijan Party delegation and the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam. He emphasized that this was a significant event, laying the foundation for the leaders of both countries to decide to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Mr. Tahir Budaqov shared that on the afternoon of January 26, the Azerbaijani delegation met with General Secretary To Lam. During the meeting, both sides highlighted the traditional friendship and long-standing historical ties between Vietnam and Azerbaijan, affirming their determination to continue strengthening and expanding comprehensive cooperation in the future.

On this occasion, Mr. Tahir Budaqov congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on successfully organizing the 14th National Congress and congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being re-elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He emphasized that this reflects the high trust of the Vietnamese people in the leadership role of the Party and the significant contributions of General Secretary To Lam.
The Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party also highlighted the tradition of friendship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan, which dates back decades, including President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Azerbaijan in 1959. He stated that Azerbaijan always values and wishes to continue promoting cooperative relations between the two Parties and States, as well as enhancing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Mr. Tahir Budaqov affirmed that the New Azerbaijan Party always supports strengthening Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations across all fields and cooperation channels. He also noted that Azerbaijani authorities will closely coordinate with Vietnam to effectively implement the agreements reached between the high-level leaders of the two countries during the visit in May 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), expressed her appreciation for the attention and guidance of Mr. Tahir Budaqov, Deputy Chairman and Chief of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party, Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan. She also acknowledged the important bridging role of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Vietnam in promoting practical advancements in cooperation between the two national statistical agencies.
The Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam officially signed a Cooperation Agreement on the morning of January 26 in Hanoi. The two agencies also signed a Work Plan for the 2026-2028 period.
The signing marks a new development in bilateral cooperation, providing a basis for the statistical agencies of both countries to enhance exchanges and share experiences in modernizing statistical work, applying information technology in socio-economic analysis, and improving the quality of statistics and reports to international standards.
The General Statistics Office of Vietnam is committed to working closely and effectively with the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan to successfully implement the work plan signed by both parties.
Director General Nguyen Thi Huong believes that the success of the cooperation between the statistical agencies of Azerbaijan and Vietnam will be a vivid testament, contributing to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
