General Secretary To Lam welcomes New Azerbaijan Party delegation
WVR/VNA - On January 26, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam received a delegation of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) led by its Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office Tahir Budagov, who came to offer congratulations on the success of the 14th National Congress of the CPV.

Mr. Tahir Budagov conveyed the congratulations from Azerbaijan's President and Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party, Ilham Aliyev, and on behalf of the Party's leadership, congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on the successful organization of the 14th National Congress. He also congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being re-elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, affirming this as the absolute trust of the Vietnamese people in the Party's leadership and policies, as well as the significant contributions of General Secretary To Lam.
Mr. Tahir Budagov expressed admiration for Vietnam's rapid development in recent times, particularly its leading global growth rate and the continuous improvement in people's living standards. He affirmed that under the Party's wise leadership, Vietnam will successfully implement the policies approved at the Congress, achieve the impressive goals set, elevate the nation's stature, and become a leading developed country in the region and an important global player. The Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party emphasized that the state visit of General Secretary To Lam to Azerbaijan in May 2025 is of great significance, opening a new phase for the strong development of traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries. He also stressed that the New Azerbaijan Party always supports strengthening Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations across all fields and channels; Azerbaijani authorities will strive to work with Vietnamese agencies to implement agreements reached between the top leaders of the two countries in May 2025.

General Secretary Tô Lâm expressed gratitude to the leadership of the New Azerbaijan Party and the Azerbaijani state for their warm sentiments and best wishes to the Vietnamese people, the Communist Party of Vietnam, and himself. He also informed Mr. Tahir Budagov and the delegation of the main outcomes of the 14th Congress, emphasizing that the Congress not only set goals, directions, and tasks for the next five years but also decided on strategic issues for the future and destiny of the Vietnamese nation in the new era of development. The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam will continue to pursue an independent, self-reliant, and resilient foreign policy, considering foreign relations as a crucial and regular task alongside national defense and security. In this process, Vietnam always values and seeks to develop relations with traditional friends and strategic partners, including Azerbaijan.

General Secretary To Lam and Mr. Tahir Budagov reviewed significant milestones in bilateral relations, including President Hồ Chí Minh's visit to Azerbaijan in 1959, the late Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev's visit to Vietnam in 1983, and mutual visits by high-level leaders of the two countries. They agreed to support the governments, ministries, agencies, and localities of both countries in establishing cooperation mechanisms, elevating relations in traditional fields such as economy-trade, energy-oil and gas, education-training, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, while expanding cooperation into new areas like science-technology, green economy, and digital economy.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam asked Budagov to convey his greetings, thanks, and invitation to Azerbaijani President and YAP Chairman Ilham Aliyev to visit Vietnam in the near future.
