Recognizing the need for a long-term, coordinated strategy for Ao dai to become not only a symbol of memory or a festive image but also a vibrant, creative, and familiar part of contemporary life, the Vietnam Ao Dai Culture Association will focus on the following main tasks:
First is to research, preserve, and promote the historical, cultural, and artistic values of the Vietnamese ao dai through different stages of development, from tradition to modernity, from royal courts to daily life; establish research centers and institutes; implement projects and programs; organize seminars, workshops, and forums on ao dai culture.

Second is to promote and honour the values of the Vietnamese ao dai internationally through cultural exchange programs, artistic performances, design contests, and ao dai fashion weeks held both domestically and abroad.
Third is to connect creative forces—from artisans, designers, models to tailors, producers, researchers, and media—to form a “creative cultural ecosystem” centered around the ao dai.
Fourth is to advise and recommend policies to state management agencies on supporting, honouring, and preserving the cultural values of the national ao dai, especially in education, communication, cultural diplomacy, and creative economy development.
Fifth is to build databases and collections of ao dai, contributing to research and education on ao dai heritage for future generations.
