The project is jointly implemented by Griffith University (Australia) and STAMEQ to modernize the management of agricultural certification and product traceability in Vietnam.
Launched in 2024, the initiative seeks to address key challenges facing the agricultural sector, including lengthy certification procedures, limited traceability, and obstacles to meeting international standards.
The V-Standard platform enables farmers to digitize production management by uploading the required supporting documents while monitoring their compliance with certification requirements.
At the same time, cooperatives and certification bodies benefit from simplified management processes, reduced administrative burdens, and shorter assessment and certification timelines.

Within just four months of implementation, the project has delivered encouraging results. More than 127 crop seasons and 147 agricultural products have been managed through the V-Standard platform. A total of 230 user accounts have been registered, strengthening connections among farmers, cooperatives, buyers, and certification organizations.
Training activities attracted 450 participants, including 37% women and 180 ethnic minority members, helping improve digital skills and strengthen their ability to meet certification requirements. Nineteen cooperatives participated in certification activities, successfully submitting 1,015 evidence dossiers for certification along with 620 monitoring reports through the platform.
The time required for assessment and certification has been reduced by around 40%, improving efficiency for both producers and certification organizations. Businesses have also benefited from greater supply chain transparency, while consumers are able to trace product origins through Vietnam's National Product and Goods Traceability Portal.
These achievements not only contribute to modernizing Vietnam's agricultural production processes but also enhance the competitiveness of the country's agricultural sector in international markets.
Ms. Renee Deschamps, Chargé d'Affaires at the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, said: "The V-Standard platform is a clear demonstration of Australia-Vietnam cooperation in transforming innovation into practical benefits for people and businesses".
According to Ms. Deschamps, by combining emerging technologies with a human-centered approach, the initiative is helping farmers and cooperatives improve production management, strengthen compliance with certification requirements, and expand opportunities to bring Vietnamese agricultural products to more markets, thereby contributing to a more productive, sustainable, and resilient agricultural sector.
"It also reflects the shared commitment of both countries to promoting inclusive and responsible innovation that delivers long-term value for communities", she added.
For his part, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of STAMEQ, said: "The project's achievements go beyond digitizing procedures. They also demonstrate our innovation capacity in developing systems that meet international standards while addressing the practical needs of farmers".

V-Standard marks an important milestone in ensuring that Vietnamese agricultural products remain competitive, traceable, and capable of meeting the growing global demand for transparency and sustainable development.
Going forward, the platform will be operated by the National Barcode Center under a service registration model for cooperatives. This approach ensures equal access for farmers while enabling the technology to continue supporting Vietnam's agricultural sector in the years ahead.
The project is funded through the Innovation Partnership Grants, a key component of the Aus4Innovation Program. Running from 2018 to 2028, Aus4Innovation aims to strengthen Vietnam's innovation ecosystem in support of sustainable and inclusive development.
Through five funding rounds, the Innovation Partnership Grants have provided a total of AUD 8.4 million to support Vietnamese and Australian organizations in developing innovative solutions to address major challenges in agriculture, healthcare, the environment, and other sectors.
The program is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), co-funded and managed by CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, and implemented through a strategic partnership with Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology.
