Badminton playground strengthens the Vietnamese community in Japan
WVR - On August 8, at the Izumi Tachikawa Gymnasium in Tokyo, the 3rd Vietnamese Community Badminton Tournament in Japan 2026 took place in a lively atmosphere, attracting nearly 300 athletes to compete.

The tournament was organized by the Vietnamese Community Badminton Association in Japan, under the patronage of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA).
Nearly 300 semi-professional Vietnamese athletes living, studying, and working in various provinces and cities across Japan participated in the tournament. Additionally, some guest athletes from Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea also took part.
Athletes competed in five categories: Open Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Men's Doubles Level 2, Level 3, Level 4. Beyond being a sporting event, the tournament created a healthy and beneficial playground, contributing to health training, physical enhancement, and spiritual life for the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Through sports, the tournament helped spread the spirit of solidarity, build a positive lifestyle, enhance exchanges, connect the community, and contribute to building a positive image of Vietnamese people in the eyes of Japanese and international friends.
Attending the opening ceremony and directly cheering for the athletes, Ms. Le Thi Hoa, First Secretary, Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, highly appreciated the efforts of the Organizing Committee, accompanying units, sponsors, and numerous volunteers in organizing the tournament.
“The Vietnamese Embassy always acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of the Organizing Committee, accompanying units, sponsors, and numerous volunteers who have dedicated much effort to organizing this tournament. These contributions have and are creating many meaningful activities, enriching the spiritual life of the Vietnamese community in Japan,” Ms. Le Thi Hoa shared.

According to Ms. Le Thi Hoa, in the future, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan will continue to accompany and support cultural, sports, and community exchange activities, contributing to strengthening the cohesion within the Vietnamese community and further promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Mr. Tran Xuan Hung, Head of the Organizing Committee, believes that sports are always a special bridge, capable of overcoming geographical, occupational, and generational distances to connect people.
“For the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Japan, playgrounds like this tournament are not only places for competition and health training but also opportunities to meet, share, strengthen solidarity, and spread the good values of Vietnamese people,” Mr. Tran Xuan Hung said.

After a day of exciting and engaging competition in the spirit of honesty, solidarity, and nobility, the athletes delivered many quality matches, leaving beautiful impressions on the audience.
As a result, in the competition categories, the First Prize went to Mixed Doubles: Le Thanh Tung and Le Dang Khoa (ISC Club, Kanagawa); Men's Doubles Level 3: Vu Hoang Anh and Nguyen Chi Dung (Betohama Club, Shizuoka); Men's Doubles Level 2: Kim Dinh Hieu and Do Quang Dai (from Seoul, Republic of Korea); Women's Doubles: Le Trang and Trieu Thai Ngoc Nhu (Akababe Club, Tokyo); Men's Open Doubles: Yuki Kubota and Takuya Nakashima (Japan).
According to Mr. Do Quang Ba, President of FAVIJA, in recent years, the Vietnamese community in Japan has continuously grown in both quantity and quality, increasingly affirming its positive role in Japan's economic, cultural, and social life, while also becoming an important bridge contributing to the friendship between Vietnam and Japan.

“To build a united, civilized, and sustainably developing community, alongside activities in education, labor, production, and business, cultural and sports activities hold significant importance. These are healthy environments for people to interact, train their health, strengthen connections, share, and support each other in life,” Mr. Do Quang Ba shared.
The 3rd Vietnamese Community Badminton Tournament in Japan 2026 not only promotes the sports movement within the Vietnamese community but also becomes a meaningful exchange activity, contributing to building a united, healthy, civilized, and integrated Vietnamese community in Japan, thereby positively contributing to the friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
