On June 14, in Higashi Osaka, Japan, a special Vietnam-Japan art program themed "Huong sac Viet Nam: Honouring Vietnamese Culture in the Global Flow" took place in a solemn atmosphere, rich in emotion and national identity.

The program was organized by the Kansai Vietnamese Association, with the support of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, attracting the participation of representatives from Japanese organizations, the Vietnamese community in Kansai, and cultural, art, and media units from both countries.

The event is considered one of the prominent Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange activities in 2026 in the Kansai region, contributing to introducing the image of Vietnam's land, people, and cultural heritage to international friends.

In her opening speech, Le Thuong, Chairwoman of the Kansai Vietnamese Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that culture is an important bridge to enhance understanding and connection between nations. According to her, "Huong sac Viet Nam" is not only an occasion to introduce traditional art but also an expression of the desire to integrate Vietnamese culture more deeply into the international cultural life.

In his welcoming speech, Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Nguyen Truong Son highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Kansai in preserving national identity while actively promoting cultural exchanges with the host country. He stated that activities like "Huong sac Viet Nam" contribute to enhancing the soft power of Vietnamese culture, thereby deepening the friendship and bond between the peoples of the two countries.

Representing Japan, Sakai Norihiro, Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, expressed his impression of the cultural depth and creative spirit of Vietnamese art. He affirmed that cultural exchange activities play an important role in strengthening the foundation of friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Japan.

A highlight of the program was the participation of Honorary Professor, World Record Holder, Artist Chu Bao Que, along with the UNESCO Vietnam Artists Group. In an exchange with the audience, Artist Chu Bao Que shared his passion for preserving, transmitting, and spreading traditional Vietnamese cultural values to international friends.

The audience also watched the documentary "The Guardian of Heritage", which won the Golden Lotus Award at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival in 2025. The film depicts the persistent journey of those who preserve national cultural heritage amidst modernization and international integration.

Additionally, the program featured many unique art performances, from traditional Japanese music by the Trainnovation Band to Vietnamese folk songs, traditional dances, and folk theater by the UNESCO Vietnam Folk Art Troupe. The combination of artistic colors from both countries created a close, emotional exchange space.

Within the framework of the event, the Organizing Committee presented Vietnamese cultural souvenirs to Japanese guests, including Dong Ho folk paintings from Bac Ninh, a type of intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO as needing urgent safeguarding.
