In 2025, Vietnam welcomed over 21 million international visitors, a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Notably, Vietnam became the top choice for Chinese tourists, attracting nearly 5.3 million visitors.
Besides major tourist hubs like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, destinations such as Phu Quoc and Sa Pa also recorded strong visitor growth.
According to experts, current tourism trends are leaning towards destinations rich in cultural identity and close to nature – a standout advantage of Vietnam with its diverse tourism ecosystem ranging from mountains and plains to islands.
Vietnam is not only growing in visitor numbers but is also shifting towards a high-quality tourism model, focusing on high-spending segments such as luxury resorts, MICE tourism, and medical tourism.
Visa exemptions for many countries and the expansion of international flight routes have enhanced Vietnam's competitiveness in the global tourism market.
Simultaneously, Vietnam is intensifying investment in tourism infrastructure in key localities such as Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Ninh. The participation of many international hotel brands reflects investors' confidence in the long-term development potential of the market.
Experts also suggest that Vietnam needs to continue balancing growth with sustainable development, focusing on improving service quality, conserving resources, and enhancing visitor experiences.
With strong growth momentum, increasingly complete infrastructure, and a sustainable development orientation, Vietnam is gradually affirming its position as one of the most dynamic and promising tourism centers in Southeast Asia.
