This recognition further underscores Vietnam's capital's allure in the eyes of tourists and international experts.
Hanoi – A Beauty That Makes Tourists “Fall in Love at First Sight”
In the "50 most beautiful cities in the world" list published in February 2026, Condé Nast Traveller states that Hanoi is a destination capable of making visitors “fall in love at first sight”.
According to the magazine, Hanoi's charm lies in its harmonious blend of ancient history and vibrant urban life. The American travel magazine emphasises that Hanoi feels like a "distilled essence of Southeast Asia", with ancient temples, traditional townhouses, and preserved French colonial villas in the Old Quarter.
The distinctive urban space and leisurely pace, rich in cultural depth, make many Western tourists particularly fond of this city. According to Condé Nast Traveller, despite rapid modernisation, Hanoi retains its "romantic soul" – a factor that distinguishes it from many major cities in the region.
A Destination Frequently Honoured by International Media
Hanoi's appearance on Condé Nast Traveller's list continues the series of international media recognitions for Vietnam's tourism.
Previously, in 2024, Tripadvisor ranked Hanoi among the Top 10 global destinations in the Travellers' Choice - Best of the Best Destinations awards, based on reviews from millions of global travellers.
In 2023, the travel site Time Out also included Hanoi on its list of the top 20 cultural cities globally, praising its heritage sites, culinary scene, and unique cultural activities.
Additionally, CNN Travel has frequently highlighted Hanoi as one of the World's most attractive street-food cities, while Lonely Planet considers it a must-visit destination in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam Continues to Receive International Tourism Awards
Not only Hanoi, but Vietnam's tourism has also been continuously honoured by international organisations over the years. According to the World Travel Awards (WTA) – regarded as the "Oscars of the travel industry" - Vietnam has been named the "World's Leading Heritage Destination" in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023.
Moreover, Vietnam has been awarded the title of "Asia's Leading Nature Destination" by WTA for several consecutive years, while Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hoi An frequently feature in city and cultural destination categories.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, these international awards enhance Vietnam's image on the global tourism map and demonstrate the growing appeal of Vietnam's tourism to international visitors.
The Allure of a Millennial Urban Identity
Experts believe that international media interest in Hanoi stems not only from its landscapes and architecture but also from the city's cultural and historical depth, dating back over a thousand years.
With a rich system of relics, including the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Temple of Literature, the Old Quarter, and traditional craft villages, Hanoi embodies the intersection of past and present.
Alongside this is a rich culinary life, community cultural spaces, and a distinctive urban rhythm. Being continually mentioned by prestigious international magazines shows that Hanoi maintains a special place on the global tourism map – a convergence of history, culture, and unique urban experiences.
