The two Foreign Ministers expressed their delight at the positive developments in Vietnam-Kuwait relations, especially in 2026, when the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations (January 10, 1976 - January 10, 2026).
Emphasizing the significance of former Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Kuwait and the upgrade of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership in 2025, the two Ministers agreed to focus on effectively implementing high-level commitments and agreements. The immediate priority is to unify the implementation of the Action Program for the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership, promoting delegation exchanges and high-level contacts in the near future.
Regarding energy cooperation, Minister Le Hoai Trung suggested that the Kuwaiti Government direct the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and the Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) to collaborate in promoting the construction of a regional strategic oil reserve in Vietnam, ensuring a stable supply of crude oil. He also urged cooperation with Vietnam and relevant parties to facilitate the operations of the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex – a symbolic project of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
