On behalf of the Timor-Leste Government, Deputy Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay congratulated the Vietnamese Embassy on the inauguration of its headquarters and affirmed that Timor-Leste values its friendship with Vietnam, expressing hope that the Embassy will continue to contribute positively to expanding cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
In parallel with the headquarters' activation, Vietnam and Timor-Leste are continuing to coordinate the necessary procedures to acquire and renovate the former USAID Office building in Dili, aiming to establish it as the permanent headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in the region.
Immediately following the inauguration, the Vietnamese Embassy hosted a regular meeting of the Heads of ASEAN Missions in Dili.
The first meeting at the new headquarters was seen as an ASEAN activity reflecting the Embassy's increasingly proactive role in multilateral activities in the region, marking the beginning of a fully operational phase for the Vietnamese Representative Mission in Timor-Leste.
