Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi believes that the potential for cooperation between the two countries remains vast. However, to realize this potential more effectively, Vietnam and Iran need to enhance delegation exchanges, expand people-to-people exchanges, and increase mutual understanding of each country's potential and strengths.
Impressions of the Vietnamese people
Sharing his first impressions upon arriving in Vietnam, Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi stated that the most profound impression left on him was the Vietnamese people – hardworking, hospitable, intelligent, and resilient.
Particularly upon arriving in Hanoi, the Ambassador remarked that the capital of Vietnam is a beautiful city, nestled in a green space with many trees, ponds, and lakes, creating a very simple beauty. For the Iranian diplomat, the sincerity, honesty, and hospitality of the people further highlight Hanoi's beauty.
Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi emphasized that Vietnamese people in general, and Hanoians in particular, are incredibly resilient. Recalling the years when Vietnam bravely fought against foreign invaders to achieve independence, freedom, and self-reliance, he noted that this foundation has contributed to the rapid development of the S-shaped country in recent times.
Assessing Vietnam's development prospects, the Ambassador believes that Vietnam's economy, trade, and culture have very positive prospects.
He particularly appreciates the leadership role of General Secretary and President To Lam, asserting that under such wise leadership, Vietnam's growth momentum is on the right track.
For his part, the Ambassador affirmed that in recent times, Iran has achieved many accomplishments in science and technology, defense, and security thanks to its inherent potential and capabilities. Iran is ready to transfer or exchange experiences and achievements in these fields with countries worldwide, including Vietnam.
Therefore, Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi believes that more opportunities should be created for the people of the two countries to better understand each other's capabilities and potential, thereby promoting bilateral relations based on independence, self-reliance, and the interests of the two peoples.
Elevating Vietnam-Iran cooperation
Assessing the role of Vietnam's diplomacy in elevating the national image and position on the international stage, Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi believes that first and foremost, the management and leadership of Vietnam's leaders in foreign affairs should be acknowledged.
Specifically, Ambassador Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi pointed out that Vietnam and Iran have always chosen an independent foreign policy approach based on multilateralism, constructive cooperation for comprehensive development on the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit. In the current context, Iran and Vietnam, with their important geopolitical positions in the strategic regions of West Asia, the Persian Gulf, and Southeast Asia, can create many dynamics, bringing development and prosperity to both nations.
Furthermore, Mr. Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi affirmed that by maintaining a neutral and balanced foreign policy with all parties, especially with Iran, Vietnam can seek and create even more benefits, in line with the new cooperation space between the two sides. Thus, the two countries need to enhance extensive consultations at all levels to strengthen Vietnam-Iran cooperation in economics, technology, culture, and science.
Additionally, addressing upcoming plans to enhance understanding between the peoples of the two countries, especially in cultural and social life fields, the diplomat stated that the Iranian Embassy is implementing three main approaches: First is to enhance high-level delegation exchanges; second is to promote media delegation exchanges; and third is to increase exchanges of expert delegations; thereby accelerating the development momentum of Vietnam-Iran relations in the near future.
