Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung welcomes Mauritanian Minister Moctar Al Housseynou Lam
On the morning of July 16, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Politburo Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung met with Mauritanian Minister in charge of the General Secretariat of the Government Moctar Al Housseynou Lam, who is on his first official visit to Vietnam.

During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung congratulated Mauritania on its recent achievements, particularly in efforts to diversify the economy, improve the living standards of its people, and successfully assume the role of Chair of the African Union for the 2024-2025 term. Affirming that Vietnam always values its traditional friendship with African nations, including Mauritania, Minister Le Hoai Trung suggested that both sides should further enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level ones, in the near future and establish a political consultation mechanism between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Le Hoai Trung stated that Vietnam has a team of experts skilled in agriculture, education, and healthcare; Vietnamese enterprises have extensive experience in investing in mining, telecommunications, and oil and gas exploration in Africa. These are strengths that both sides can leverage to promote cooperation.

Minister Moctar Lam expressed his delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time, conveyed a message from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani to General Secretary and President To Lam, and thanked Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung for the warm and cordial reception.
Expressing admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and appreciating the cooperation between the two countries at multilateral forums, Minister Moctar Lam affirmed that Mauritania always values its relationship with Vietnam; he believes that this visit to Vietnam will open a new phase of development for the bilateral relations.
Agreeing with the proposals of Minister Le Hoai Trung, Minister Moctar Lam affirmed that he would inform Mauritania's ministries and sectors, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese side to achieve concrete cooperation results for the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Based on the fact that both countries have long coastlines, Minister Moctar Lam also suggested that Vietnam and Mauritania explore and cooperate in developing a sustainable aquaculture industry.
The two Ministers agreed to continue promoting the tradition of close cooperation at multilateral forums, including the Francophonie community, and to strengthen substantive cooperation with regional organizations such as ASEAN and the African Union (AU) for the benefit of the peoples of both countries, for peace, stability, and development in each region and globally.
