At the reception, Director General Le Cong Dung congratulated Ms. Jennifer Wicks on her appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam and expressed confidence that the Ambassador will have a successful term, contributing to the increasingly substantive, effective, and comprehensive development of relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Jennifer Wicks expressed her honor at being appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, affirming her commitment to promoting cooperative relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, thereby advancing bilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of both nations, as well as for peace, stability, and development in the region.
The ceremony for receiving the copy of credentials was conducted according to diplomatic protocol, marking the official start of Ms. Jennifer Wicks' term in Vietnam.
In recent years, Vietnam-U.S. relations have continued to maintain positive development momentum across various fields such as political-diplomatic, economic-trade, investment, education, science-technology, defense-security, and people-to-people exchanges. The two countries have also enhanced coordination in addressing post-war issues, responding to global challenges, and promoting cooperation in regional and international forums.
In her new role, Ambassador Jennifer Wicks is expected to play a crucial bridging role, contributing to the promotion of bilateral cooperation programs, enhancing mutual understanding and trust, and expanding areas of cooperation in line with the interests and priorities of each country.

| Ms. Jennifer Wicks is a professional diplomat and civil servant of the U.S. Government with nearly 31 years of experience. Before her appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, she served as the Director of the Presidential Appointments Office from November 2012, working under four U.S. Presidents and frequently collaborating with senior officials at the White House and the U.S. Department of State. During her tenure at the U.S. Department of State, she held a number of important positions, including Chief of Staff of the U.S. Foreign Assistance Resources Agency, Senior Advisor on Legislative and Public Affairs to the Under Secretary of State for Management, and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Management. Regarding her education, she holds a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the United States Army War College (2008) and a Master of Public Administration from American University (2003). On June 18, she officially took the oath of office as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam. |
