Every overseas Vietnamese can become an Ambassador of people-to-people diplomacy
WVR - In an interview with The World & Vietnam Report, Tran Phu Thuan, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Union of Vietnamese Organizations in the Russian Federation, shared this message on the implementation of Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW on the foreign policy of the 14th National Party Congress.

Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW identifies people-to-people diplomacy as one of the important pillars of Vietnam's comprehensive foreign policy. How do you assess the role of people-to-people diplomacy in the current context?
In the context of rapidly changing, complex, and unpredictable global situations, people's diplomacy increasingly asserts its role as a bridge between the Vietnamese people and the peoples of other countries.
While Party diplomacy and state diplomacy provide the political, legal, and strategic foundation, people's diplomacy contributes to building empathy, trust, and sustainable friendship among nations.
People-to-people diplomacy has the special advantage of being close, flexible, and sincere.
Through cultural, educational, scientific exchanges, local cooperation, business connections, youth, and social organizations, the image of a peaceful, developing, culturally rich Vietnam as a reliable partner is widely spread to international friends.
For the overseas Vietnamese community, every Vietnamese can become a "people-to-people ambassador," helping to introduce the country, its people, and Vietnam's development achievements to international friends.
In your opinion, what are the unique advantages of people-to-people diplomacy in enhancing understanding, trust, and friendship between Vietnam and other countries worldwide?
The strength of people-to-people diplomacy lies in heart-to-heart connections. This is a diplomatic channel not only based on agreements or documents but built through exchanges, sharing, and cooperation between people.
Direct interactions in learning, research, work, business, and cultural, sports, and charitable activities help international friends understand Vietnam more accurately, eliminate prejudices, enhance trust, and create a solid social foundation for relations between Vietnam and other countries.
People-to-people diplomacy also effectively mobilizes international resources, expands cooperation networks in various fields, and contributes to maintaining a peaceful, stable environment for national development.
How can the overseas Vietnamese community contribute to achieving the people-to-people diplomacy goals set out in Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW?
The overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the nation and an important resource in people-to-people diplomacy. With the advantage of understanding both Vietnamese culture and the host culture, they can serve as a bridge between Vietnam and the world.

First and foremost, the community needs to continue to unite, preserve the national cultural identity, comply with the laws of the host country, and build the image of dynamic, responsible, and integrated Vietnamese people. This is the most practical way to enhance Vietnam's reputation and position on the international stage.
Additionally, the community can actively participate in cultural, educational, scientific exchanges, trade promotion, investment, and tourism; connect Vietnamese universities, research institutes, businesses, and localities with international partners; and introduce Vietnam's achievements in innovation, development policies, and foreign policy of peace, independenc, and self-reliance to international friends.
I believe that with a spirit of solidarity, responsibility, and dedication to the homeland, the overseas Vietnamese community will continue to play the role of a friendly bridge, contributing to the successful implementation of the people-to-people diplomacy goals set out in Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW, thereby positively contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position and reputation in the new development phase.
