Excitement at the 11th VJS Open Cup 2026 in Kashihara, Japan

WVR - On March 8, at Kashihara Stadium, Nara Prefecture, Japan, the 11th VJS Open Cup 2026, organized by the Kansai Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association, took place in a lively atmosphere, attracting a large number of Vietnamese residents living, studying, and working in the Kansai region to participate and cheer.

The tournament was organized under the patronage of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, aiming to create a healthy sports playground, enhance exchange, community bonding, and promote sports and physical training among the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Dang Hoang, representative of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, along with representatives from the Organizing Committee, sponsors, team leaders, and a large number of supporters.

This year's tournament gathered 32 men's teams and 5 women's teams, with over 1,000 athletes and supporters from various localities in the Kansai region such as Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo, Shiga...; creating a vibrant and enthusiastic sports atmosphere.

The matches were conducted in a spirit of solidarity – honesty – nobility, offering the audience many beautiful plays, exciting and dramatic competitions. More than just a sports tournament, the VJS Open Cup is an occasion for the Vietnamese community in Japan to meet, exchange, share, and strengthen the bonds between groups, organizations, and individuals within the community.

Notably, the tournament was organized to commemorate the 116th International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2026) and towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2026).

Particularly, the participation of 5 women's teams contributed to spreading the spirit of sports, honoring the role and dynamism of women in the Vietnamese community in Japan.

After a day of lively, exciting, and dramatic competition, the tournament officially concluded with many impressive matches.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dang Hoang, representative of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, stated that the tournament not only holds sports significance but also serves as a practical activity contributing to strengthening the unity and bonding of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

He highly appreciated the efforts of the Organizing Committee, teams, sponsors, and the enthusiastic response of the community, which contributed to creating a meaningful and successful sports event.

Representing the participating athletes, female player Nguyen Thi Cam Nhanh from the Thanh Hoa team expressed her joy at participating in a large-scale, professional, and meaningful tournament for the Vietnamese community in Japan.

The female player expressed that this is not only an opportunity for female players to showcase their passion for football but also an occasion to exchange, connect, and contribute to spreading the spirit of sports within the community.

After more than a decade of organization, the VJS Open Cup has become one of the major and prestigious grassroots football tournaments of the Vietnamese community in Japan, actively contributing to community connection, promoting sports activities, and showcasing the dynamic, united, and integrated image of Vietnamese people in Japan.
