President Luong Cuong extends Lunar New Year Greetings to overseas Vietnamese, beats drum to open Homeland Spring Festival 2026
WVR - On the evening of February 8, at the National Convention Center, President Luong Cuong and his spouse attended the special art program Homeland Spring 2026 with the theme “Vietnam Aspiration: Peace, Prosperity”.

Also in attendance were comrades: Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai; Politburo member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son; leaders, former leaders of central committees, ministries, and sectors, along with approximately 1,500 distinguished overseas Vietnamese representatives from around the world returning home to celebrate Tet and enjoy the spring festival.
In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang stated that in 2025, efforts concerning overseas Vietnamese continued to be proactively and comprehensively implemented, achieving many significant results.
These activities have contributed to strengthening the connection between the overseas Vietnamese community and their homeland, better meeting the legitimate needs of the people, honoring the national cultural identity and Vietnamese language, while effectively harnessing and promoting the valuable resources and intellect of the Vietnamese community worldwide.

According to Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, the theme of the Spring Homeland 2026 program – “Vietnam Aspiration: Peace, Prosperity” – reflects the determination and confidence of the entire nation in the journey of national development, in which the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part, sharing the aspiration to elevate Vietnam to stand alongside the world's great powers, as wished by President Ho Chi Minh.
In his speech extending Lunar New Year greetings and beating the drum to open the spring festival, the President expressed his joy and emotion at meeting compatriots from all over the world attending the Homeland Spring 2026 program. He conveyed warm sentiments, heartfelt greetings, and the best New Year wishes to all compatriots at home and abroad, along with esteemed guests.

The President noted that the year 2025 was a special year with many significant milestones for the nation, such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh; the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2; and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National reunification. It was also a year marking the streamlining of the apparatus, restructuring the development space, laying the foundation for the country to accelerate and break through, realizing the two centennial development goals.
In 2025, our country faced many challenges due to severe natural disasters and complex international and regional developments. However, amidst these challenges, the resilience, intellect, will, and aspiration to rise of the Vietnamese nation were strongly affirmed.
Under the leadership of the Party, with the unity of the entire people and army, the country overcame difficulties, maintained independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and a peaceful environment; the economy sustained high growth, ranking among the leaders in the region and the world; Vietnam became a high middle-income country, among the 32 largest economies and 15 leading trading nations globally.

Additionally, foreign affairs continued to be a highlight, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's international position and reputation. Abroad, the Vietnamese community continued to grow, deeply integrating and becoming a bridge of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, while contributing significant resources to the nation's development.
On behalf of the State and the people, the President sincerely acknowledged and highly appreciated the sentiments, responsibility, and noble gestures of the overseas Vietnamese towards their homeland.
The President affirmed that for the Vietnamese nation to develop and endure, a particularly meaningful factor is the continuous flow of aspiration. "Vietnam Aspiration" is the soul of the nation, a great spiritual motivation that helps the country overcome all challenges and rise strongly.

Entering 2026 – the first year of implementing the 14th Party Congress Resolution, our country confidently steps into a new era of development with aspirations for peace and prosperity.
The President called on all compatriots at home and abroad to continue to promote the strength of national solidarity, unite, and contribute intellect, resources, and dedication to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, for a peaceful, prosperous, and happy Vietnam.
The Spring Homeland 2026 program with the theme "Vietnam Aspiration – Peace, Prosperity" is a journey connecting roots, evoking Tet memories and national identity, a meeting point of past, present, and future, where every Vietnamese, wherever they are, finds pride and shared responsibility with their homeland and country.
