Vietnamese in Japan's Hiroshima compete in annual Amateur Football Tournament

WVR - On May 24, in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, the FAVIJA CHUGOKU CUP 2026 amateur football tournament took place with the enthusiastic participation of 16 Vietnamese teams who are studying, working, and living in the Chugoku region.

The tournament is organized by the Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) under the patronage of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.

Sixteen amateur teams from the Vietnamese community were selected from numerous registered teams, divided into four groups to play round-robin matches on four fields simultaneously before entering the knockout stages.

The tournament atmosphere was lively with the support of hundreds of spectators, including Vietnamese expatriates and local Japanese residents.

According to the organizers, the tournament not only provides a sports playground to improve health and fitness but also serves as an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Japan to connect, strengthen solidarity, and support each other while living far from home.

This is also an opportunity for young Vietnamese to indulge their passion for football while contributing to strengthening the friendship and connection between the Vietnamese community and the Japanese people.

Mr. Ngo Van Bau, Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that the FAVIJA CHUGOKU CUP is an annual tournament eagerly anticipated by the Vietnamese football-loving community in the Chugoku region.

After a day of exciting and intense matches, the championship was claimed by FC 37 Hiroshima. FC J-Connect Phu Tho secured the runner-up position, while FC Okayama VN and FC Tre Fukuyama shared third place.

The Top Scorer award was given to Tran Quang Nam of FC J-Connect Phu Tho. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Nguyen Huu Linh, and the Best Player award was presented to Ta Quoc Trong An, both from FC 37 Hiroshima.

According to Mr. Do Quang Ba, President of FAVIJA, the four top-performing teams in the tournament will earn the right to participate in the National Vietnamese Football Championship in Japan, scheduled for mid-November in Tokyo.
