Vietnamese Tet atmosphere in a vibrant Fukuoka day
From the morning, the festival grounds were vibrant with red couplets, yellow apricot blossoms, purple ao dai, and the lively sound of lion drums. About 30 food stalls, cultural displays, folk games, and traditional Tet experiences created a “miniature Vietnam” in the heart of modern Fukuoka City.
Children lined up for lucky money, adults sought calligraphy for the new year, and Vietnamese students and long-settled families gathered around traditional dishes like banh chung and spring rolls. Japanese attendees eagerly experienced Vietnamese Tet, enjoyed traditional dishes, and learned about Spring customs.
Before the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee launched a series of activities to enhance natural interaction: folk games, youth networking, cultural experience spaces, and notably the Kyushu Got Talent stage. Each performance was a story of love for the homeland, the aspiration for integration, and the pride of Vietnamese identity abroad.
Connecting the community through each Spring
Speaking to the press, Nguyen Duy Anh – Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Honorary President of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka – stated that the greatest value of Spring in the Homeland is the community connection nurtured over the years.
He said: “For overseas Vietnamese, Homeland Spring is a moment to see Vietnamese Tet fully present far from the homeland. Over seven editions, the Vietnamese in Kyushu have become more mature, proactive in preserving identity, and actively integrating.”

Sharing the same view, Hoang Xuan Dung – President of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka – emphasized the special spiritual significance of the program:
“When young people proudly wear ao dai, confidently step onto the Kyushu Got Talent stage, or eagerly participate in folk games, we believe that the Vietnamese cultural vein is being naturally continued across generations,” he added.
In her speech, Consul General Vu Chi Mai affirmed that it is the warm encounters at the festival – a shared meal, a cultural performance, a New Year’s greeting – that sustainably nurture friendship among nations.
