Vietnam Ambassador to Tanzania receives Dar Es Salaam University delegation: Promoting cooperation in education and scientific research

On May 29, at the Embassy headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vu Thanh Huyen received and worked with a delegation from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) – Tanzania's leading and oldest public higher education institution.

The University of Dar es Salaam delegation attending the meeting included: i) Dr. Peter Binamungu – Research Grants Coordinator; ii) Mr. David Muya – Senior Internationalization Officer; iii) Ms. Elizabeth Rwitunga – Representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania (MFA), who accompanied the delegation.

During the reception, Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen expressed her pleasure in welcoming the UDSM officials and the MFA representative. The Ambassador affirmed that education, training, and scientific research cooperation are among the top priorities emphasized by the Government of Vietnam to strengthen the deep-rooted traditional friendship between the two nations.

In their exchange with the Ambassador, Dr. Peter Binamungu and Mr. David Muya provided a brief overview of UDSM's academic capacity, key research programs, and its internationalization expansion strategy. The UDSM representatives expressed their desire to connect directly and sign cooperation agreements with leading universities and research institutes in Vietnam. The proposed areas of potential cooperation focus on: faculty and student exchanges; joint implementation of international scientific research projects; and academic scholarship exchanges.

Representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania, Ms. Elizabeth Rwitunga affirmed that the Ministry stands ready to act as a bridge, providing maximum diplomatic procedural support so that bilateral educational link and partnership programmes can be deployed smoothly and effectively.

Acknowledging the proposals from the partners, Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen stated that the Embassy of Vietnam in Tanzania will actively engage with relevant domestic authorities and higher education institutions to share information and realize these cooperation proposals. This will contribute to promoting cultural exchanges and improving human resources quality for the development of both countries.

The reception took place in a open and friendly atmosphere.
