To spread patriotic spirit in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2025) and Independence Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) has directed social media platforms and gaming companies in Vietnam to simultaneously implement the media campaign “Proud of Vietnam – Turning Cyberspace Red” with many meaningful activities, contributing to igniting national pride in cyberspace.

Specifically, on the Zalo platform two main activities will be launched: updating personal interface themes rich in the colors of the national holidays; and introducing AI-generated profile pictures featuring the national flag and images evoking the spirit of independence and freedom.

In addition, the campaign expands across Zalo’s ecosystem platforms, including Zing MP3: launching playlists under the themes of Homeland – People – Revolution, attaching the special Independence Day 2/9 symbol on the homepage, creating strong viral effects; Zalo Video: promoting a livestream event celebrating Independence Day, while suggesting a series of videos themed around September 2 such as interviews, art programs, and commemorative activities in localities.

It is expected that this campaign will reach 30–40 million accounts on Zalo and across its ecosystem applications.

At the same time, the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information has mobilized around 30 leading Vietnamese game developers to participate on a large scale by turning 150 to 200 globally released games “red”. Notable games include: Screwdom, Bus Out, Cookingdom, Dreamy Room, Goods Puzzle: Sort Challenge, Galaxiga: Space Arcade Shooter, Survivor Kingdoms…

All of these games will simultaneously display the Vietnamese national flag on app icons, maps, items, and in-game events. It is expected that about 100 million players in Vietnam and around the world will be exposed to this campaign.

Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information, shared: “This is the first time Zalo and Vietnamese game companies have come together in a large-scale, unified activity to celebrate Independence Day 2/9, not only in Vietnam but also spreading the national flag globally.

This campaign will bring exciting experiences to users and gamers, while also promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends in a creative and familiar way. It is a vivid testament to solidarity and joint efforts between technology platforms, entertainment businesses, and users, aiming to build a healthy cyberspace rich in humanistic values”.

The campaign “Proud of Vietnam – Turning cyberspace red” affirms the power of the digital space in evoking patriotism, honoring historical–cultural values, spreading gratitude and national pride, while strengthening community bonds—especially among young people, the core force of Vietnam’s digital era.

In addition, on this occasion, at the request of the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information, Google Play has also joined in, launching a “Made in Vietnam” Collection to commemorate Independence Day 2/9.

The “Made in Vietnam” Collection is prominently displayed on the Google Play Games homepage, featuring iconic games that reflect Vietnam’s traditional culture, produced and published by major Vietnamese developers.

The collection aims to honor Vietnam’s exceptional talents in game development and help them reach diverse players in Vietnam and worldwide. This initiative reflects government support and reaffirms Google’s commitment to empowering creators, while positioning Vietnam as one of the leading nations in the global digital economy.
