Fifty years ago, Kuwait became the first nation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang noted that this pioneering decision not only demonstrated Kuwait's strategic vision and friendly goodwill but also laid an important foundation for the long-term development of Vietnam's relations with the Middle East and Gulf regions.
Building on this positive historical foundation, over the past half-century, Vietnam-Kuwait relations have been continuously strengthened and developed, based on sincere friendship, political trust, mutual respect, and common interests.
Currently, bilateral relations have entered a new phase of development. By 2025, Kuwait has become Vietnam's first Strategic Partner in the Middle East. In the future, Vietnam affirms its readiness to continue close cooperation with Kuwait to promote more effective and substantive bilateral relations, as well as to foster peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and globally.
