WVR - On August 28, amidst the jubilant, enthusiastic, and proud atmosphere of the entire nation, in a solemn space filled with the friendship between Vietnam and Thailand, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand organized a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day on September 2.

The series of activities also spread the significance of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025), and the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's ASEAN membership (August 8, 1995 - August 8, 2025), while celebrating the newly elevated Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

In his opening speech at the Commemoration ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized, “This sacred moment for the nation is also an occasion for us to affirm our aspirations, determination, and strong will to build a powerful and prosperous Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with friends around the world. In this journey, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Thailand holds a particularly important role.

The historical imprint of President Ho Chi Minh nearly 100 years ago and the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Thailand are crucial factors in fostering a solid foundation for the increasingly profound Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, for the practical benefits of the people of both countries.”

The meticulously organized and solemn program, unprecedented in scale in Udon Thani, has become a major festival for Vietnam, enthusiastically attended by overseas Vietnamese, Thai friends, and international guests, celebrating the homeland and 80 years of glorious history of the Vietnamese nation.

The series of events also strongly affirms the cooperative and friendly relations between Vietnam and Thailand and the deep bonds between the peoples of the two countries, with the positive role of the Vietnamese community of over 100,000 people in Thailand.

A highlight of the series is the exhibition “Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of the era, Bridge of Vietnam – Thailand friendship” featuring over 200 paintings, photos, and historical documents about President Ho Chi Minh, organized in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Site, and the painting contest “Vietnamese Children abroad Love Uncle Ho”, vividly reflecting his noble revolutionary life, his meaningful memories with the community, and the special respect of overseas Vietnamese for President Ho Chí Minh.

The exhibition aims to introduce, honour, and express gratitude for President Ho Chi Minh's immense contributions to the country, including building the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Thailand. Notably, for the first time, the exhibition showcases images and artifacts about the close relationship between President Ho Chi Minh and Regent and former Prime Minister of Thailand, Pridi Banomyong.

The program “Meeting Historical Witnesses, Collecting Artifacts, Documents, and Stories about Uncle Ho” aims to continue encouraging overseas Vietnamese and Thai friends to preserve stories, memories, and artifacts from the 16 months Uncle Ho spent in Thailand, from July 1928 to November 1929.

This is an important and regular task of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand, advancing towards cultural diplomacy activities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh's arrival in Thailand (July 1928 - July 2028).

Alongside cultural diplomacy activities, the Consulate General of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Thai-Vietnam Business Association across Thailand, organized the business forum “Enhancing Vietnam – Thailand Economic Cooperation in the new era” and the “Go global special dialogue session” of the Vietnam Private Economic Forum 2025, attracting nearly 200 entrepreneurs, experts, and representatives of many economic corporations from both countries.

Together with the “Vietnam - Northeast Thailand Goods Fair”, these are practical activities contributing to the implementation of Government Resolution 138/NQ-CP, executing the Politburo's Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development, while strongly supporting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

The Go global special dialogue session - Vietnam Private Economic Forum was held for the first time in Thailand, demonstrating the solidarity of Vietnam's private economy in enhancing Vietnam - Thailand economic cooperation. Organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's ASEAN membership, the event strongly affirms the spirit of enhancing regional cooperation and integration.

Notably, the 80th National Day Commemoration in Udon Thani is an unprecedentedly large-scale political and cultural diplomatic event in the region. The ceremony was attended by officials and leaders from 20 provinces in Northeast Thailand, various departments, friendship associations between the two countries, and over 1,000 Thai friends, entrepreneurs from both countries, and Vietnamese expatriates, demonstrating the Thai government's interest and goodwill towards Vietnam in general, and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand in particular, as well as the commendable solidarity and support of the community.

The series of activities celebrating the 80th National Day strongly affirms national pride, the spirit of integration, and a firm belief in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, and Vietnam's strong development aspirations in the new era – an era of prosperous, civilized, and happy development for the nation.

The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of the era, Bridge of Vietnam – Thailand friendship” will be open for two weeks until September 5, 2025. It is a prominent cultural event of Vietnam in Thailand, expected to attract over 26,000 visitors, contributing to enhancing the respect for President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese nation, the love for Vietnam, and the cooperative friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.
