Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu chaired the workshop. Attending the event were many former leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, leaders of research institutes, representatives from various central ministries, departments, and agencies, along with experts and scholars.

In his opening remarks, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that, amid profound changes in the global and regional landscape, the continued promotion of comprehensive, extensive, and synchronized international integration has become an objective and strategic requirement for Vietnam, necessitating the participation of the entire political system.

The draft Political Report for the 14th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on international integration in the new context clearly affirm that foreign affairs and international integration are “core, regular tasks.”

However, to meet the increasingly demanding goals and tasks of national development, the implementation of foreign policy and international integration must overcome several challenges and bottlenecks, particularly in terms of mechanisms and resources.

On that basis, a Resolution by the National Assembly will serve as an important legal document, providing the framework for implementing special and breakthrough policies and mechanisms to address existing obstacles, maximize opportunities, and enhance the effectiveness of Vietnam’s international integration. It will also help the entire political system become more flexible in adapting to international standards, attracting resources, and improving national competitiveness. This is not solely the responsibility of the diplomatic sector but a shared task for all officials involved in foreign affairs and international integration throughout the political system, from central to local levels.

Through the two discussion sessions, participants contributed many sincere, candid, and substantive opinions, identifying critical bottlenecks to be addressed, limitations to be overcome, and proposing numerous breakthrough, practical mechanisms, policies, and solutions for international integration.

These contributions are a valuable source of reference, providing important scientific and practical grounds for the drafting team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue developing the draft Resolution.

At the same time, the workshop also put forward important suggestions and proposals on mechanisms, policies, and resources to create breakthroughs in the implementation of foreign policy and international integration in the time to come.
