Bringing documentary heritage closer to the public

The space introducing Vietnam's World Documentary Heritage and notable national archives has officially been launched in Hanoi, marking a significant step in bringing documentary heritage closer to the public, in line with international practices for preserving and promoting archival values.

The State Records and Archives Department (Ministry of Home Affairs) officially launched the space introducing Vietnam's World Documentary Heritage and notable national archives at the department's headquarters (No. 12 Dao Tan, Giang Vo Ward).

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Dang Thanh Tung, Director of the State Records and Archives Department, emphasized that the exhibition space demonstrates the Archives sector's commitment to providing authentic information sources, serving research, education, and spreading the core values of national history to both domestic and international audiences.

The formation of the space also aligns with international practices, as national archival agencies of each country are always reliable addresses to introduce the most notable documents, reflecting the depth of history and national governance traditions.

The space is built on meticulous preparation, with a long-term orientation, featuring a scientific and modern design, comprising three main content areas. At the center is the Media Space – where archival documents are transformed into digital data, media content, and multimedia interactive products, allowing the public to access the materials in a vivid and intuitive manner.

Additionally, the exhibition area for Vietnam's World Documentary Heritage and notable national archives systematically introduces valuable documents, including the Nguyen Dynasty's Woodblocks and Imperial Records – World Documentary Heritage recognized by UNESCO. The public can directly explore and learn from original archival materials through modern screens and search tools.

Notably, within the framework of the launch, some notable original archival documents about the National Flag, National Anthem, National Emblem, and various Constitutions through different periods are selected for display. These are sacred symbols, embodying the spirit of independence, freedom, and the aspiration for development of the Vietnamese nation.

Furthermore, the History of Vietnam's Archives Space is also arranged to honor the journey of formation and development of the sector, along with generations of archivists who have persistently preserved and passed down the national memory through many periods.

According to the plan, from March 3, 2026 (the 15th day of the first lunar month, Year of the Horse), the space will be open to the public free of charge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

On this occasion, the State Records and Archives Department also organizes a thematic exhibition on the Royal Court's Tet through the Nguyen Dynasty's Imperial Records and Woodblocks, combined with experiential activities to make documentary heritage a vibrant part of contemporary life.
