This prestigious award is presented by the United Nations to recognize individuals and groups for their outstanding contributions, demonstrating resilience and professional competence throughout their tenure in the harsh region of Abyei.
The ceremony was attended by Major General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha, Military Force Commander and Acting Head of UNISFA; representatives of the Abyei Administrative Area government, along with commanders of international agencies and units, and a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense led by Colonel Pham Tan Phong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha emphasized: “This medal is not only a well-deserved recognition for your persistent efforts but also a testament to your substantial contributions.
From transforming dangerous intersections into safe, sustainable infrastructure like the Banton Bridge to ensuring the smooth operation of nearly 100km of vital transport routes in a challenging combat environment, you have demonstrated exceptional technical skills and courageous spirit…”.

On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense delegation, Colonel Pham Tan Phong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, expressed honor at the United Nations' recognition of the Vietnamese peacekeeping forces.
Colonel Pham Tan Phong praised the outstanding achievements of the 4th Engineering Team and individual officers, expressing confidence that each soldier will continue to uphold the noble qualities and image of the "Bo doi Cu Ho" in the eyes of international friends, fulfilling their mission excellently in the remaining journey.”

Colonel Pham Tan Phong expressed sincere gratitude to the UNISFA leadership for their continuous support, enabling the Vietnamese peacekeeping forces to complete their tasks effectively.
During their tenure, the 4th Engineering Team not only excelled in technical tasks, ensuring vital infrastructure, but also made a significant impact through civil-military activities.
The image of Vietnamese Blue Beret soldiers actively assisting in medical care, repairing schools, and making desks for students has become a "bridge" of compassion, significantly contributing to maintaining stability and building trust in the Abyei area.

For each officer and staff member, this award is an honor, but also a reminder of the responsibilities ahead. Recognizing the remaining time of their tenure as crucial, the unit continues to maintain strict discipline and unity to focus on completing the remaining tasks.
This is the most practical way for each soldier to keep their promise, preparing thoroughly to hand over the area to the succeeding forces, effectively continuing the peacekeeping journey.
