The Deputy Minister emphasized that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation. Each overseas Vietnamese is not only a member of the community but also represents the image of the country and people of Vietnam, serving as an important bridge to enhance friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and the host countries.
The Vietnamese community in Laos continues to grow in unity and strength
On the afternoon of July 15, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Laos – one of the communities with a long-standing tradition, always united and connected with the homeland, and making many positive contributions to the host society.
The Deputy Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the role of the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos and the management boards of Vietnamese in various localities in gathering and uniting the community, supporting them to stabilize their lives, maintaining activities to preserve the Vietnamese language, uphold national cultural identity, and integrate with Lao society.
With the cooperation of the Vietnamese Representative Missions and the facilitation of the local authorities, the organizational system of the Vietnamese community in all 18 provinces and cities of Laos has been completed, operating in accordance with Lao law.
The Deputy Minister urged the community to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, adhering to local laws, caring for the younger generation, and building stronger associations, thereby continuing to play the role of a bridge of friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also visited Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane, meeting with monks and representatives of the Coordinating Committee for Vietnamese Buddhist Cooperation in Laos. Appreciating the contributions of Phat Tich Pagoda in caring for the spiritual life of the community, preserving traditional cultural values, and promoting people-to-people exchanges, the Deputy Minister expressed her hope that the Pagoda would continue to serve as a cultural and spiritual support for the Vietnamese community in Laos.

Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand continue to play the role of a friendship bridge
On July 16, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and the delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked with Vietnamese associations in Udon Thani province, northeastern Thailand – an area with a large Vietnamese community that preserves many historical and cultural values associated with President Ho Chi Minh.
Paying respects at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Udon Thani, the Deputy Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the community's efforts in preserving and restoring the site, contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism and spreading Vietnamese historical and cultural values to younger generations and international friends.
At Vietnam Street, the Deputy Minister visited the headquarters of the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani, meeting with associations and the Vietnamese community. Community representatives shared their achievements in community building, organizing activities towards the homeland, teaching and learning Vietnamese, preserving traditional culture, and strengthening ties with local authorities and people.
The Deputy Minister praised the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of the Vietnamese community in Udon Thani in particular and Thailand in general. She also urged the community to continue promoting tradition, caring for the younger generation, preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural identity, and building the image of dynamic and compassionate Vietnamese, making positive contributions to the Vietnam-Thailand friendship.
During the meeting with the General Association of Vietnamese in Thailand and the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association, the Deputy Minister congratulated the General Association on successfully organizing the 2026-2028 term Congress. She highly appreciated the role of the General Association and associations in gathering and uniting the community, supporting them to stabilize their lives and integrate with the host society.
For the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association, the Deputy Minister acknowledged the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese business community in promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries. She hoped that the business community would continue to play a connecting role, promote the image of Vietnam, expand business cooperation, and make practical contributions to the enhanced strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

Concluding the meetings, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, and the Vietnamese Representative Missions in Laos and Thailand will continue to coordinate and support associations in community building, preserving national cultural values, and enhancing their role in connecting with the homeland.
The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the Vietnamese community in the two countries will continue to develop steadily, successfully integrate, and become positive factors contributing to nurturing friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Thailand.
