WVR - On July 27, witnessing the meeting of war veterans and invalids on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day in Ho Chi Minh City, musician Le Tu Minh composed the song “Thap len Viet Nam” (Igniting Vietnam). The piece is a tribute inspired by the lingering losses of war.

On a late July day, when musician Le Tu Minh was invited to attend the War Invalids and Martyrs Day ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, he witnessed veterans who had left parts of their bodies on the battlefield, and he couldn't hold back his tears.
Right there in the hall, the first verses were hastily written on his phone:
“Want to shake hands but no hand to shake
For the hands were left on the battlefield
Want to run to a dear friend
But the legs lie with comrades
Touch the face to guess by voice
My eyes no longer see you…”
That very night, the song Thap len Viet Nam was born. The song praises the soldiers who embraced sacrifice and loss for the nation's endurance. Even though their legs, arms, and eyes remained on the battlefield, lying with their comrades, their smiles remain pure and bright.
