CPC, under the Vietnam Electricity Group said the system was built to enhance ‘green’ vehicle use in the city. Each charger system will cost 700 million VND (31,000 USD).

Tran Dung, director of the corporation’s Central Power Electronic Measurement Equipment Manufacturing Centre said he hoped that more systems for battery operated vehicles will open across the city.

On the same day, CPC also put two electric cars into operation. Each Mitsubishi-brand car costs more than 1 billion VND (44,000 USD).

Additionally, CPC inaugurated its head-office rooftop solar power system using Mitsubishi solar power cells, part of promoting renewable energy in the city.

It said the sun power system will supply 108Kwh each day – 10 percent of energy use at the office building.

The Da Nang-based corporation also plans to work with Japanese firm Mitsubishi in production of battery-powered cars.

The central city has licensed 20 battery-powered and solar powered cars to serve tourists since 2012.
