Leveraging Overseas Vietnamese resources for Da Nang's development

On September 26, the People's Committee of Da Nang City organized the Conference on the Summary of International Integration and Cooperation for the period 2021-2025, with orientations for 2025-2030 under the theme “Da Nang – New Space, New Motivation, Integration and Development”.
The conference was attended by 200 delegates, including leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam and guests, along with representatives from domestic and international business associations and leaders and foreign affairs officials of Da Nang.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the theme “New Space, New Motivation, Integration and Development”, considering it a testament to Da Nang's strategic vision in the new phase.
The city's proactive organization of the conference on integration right after merging with Quang Nam reflects innovative thinking and determination to assert its position as a new growth pole of the country.
Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, emphasized that Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo identifies international integration as a strategic driver for national development and Da Nang considers this as a guiding principle throughout.
In the 2025-2030 period, Da Nang has identified three strategic breakthroughs, with international integration playing a pivotal role: Utilizing special mechanisms and policies to attract foreign investment, encouraging public-private partnerships, expanding regional and international linkages; Promoting science, technology, and innovation, driving digital transformation linked with developing high-quality human resources; Enhancing international cooperation to acquire advanced knowledge, technology, management experience, thereby boosting competitiveness and affirming its position as the economic-financial center of Central Vietnam.

Also at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Director of Da Nang's Department of Foreign Affairs, stated that over the past five years, Da Nang's international integration efforts have achieved significant results. The city has expanded foreign relations with 60 localities in 24 countries, signing hundreds of cooperation agreements across various fields. Additionally, Da Nang has hosted numerous large-scale international events, creating a strong impact on the global exchange and connection map.
At the conference, leading officials, experts, speakers, and representatives of international organizations offered many opinions and solutions to enhance the city's integration effectiveness in the coming period. Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed the role and necessity of connecting and attracting resources from overseas Vietnamese in the city's new development phase.
With 6 million Vietnamese in over 130 countries, primarily in developed nations, connecting with the overseas community will help Da Nang access capital, knowledge, technology, and international partners, creating new development momentum.
On this occasion, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and Da Nang's Department of Foreign Affairs signed a cooperation Agreement witnessed by leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of the city.
The agreement serves as a foundation for the two agencies to enhance coordination in working with the overseas Vietnamese community, leveraging overseas resources to contribute to promoting the socio-economic central role of Central Vietnam, in line with Da Nang's new development space.
