Vietnamese in Canada share their opinions for the 14th Party Congress: Seminar

WVR - Recently, the Canada-Vietnam Cultural and Educational Council (CVCEC) organized a seminar to consolidate contributions to the draft documents for the 14th Party Congress.

The contributions mainly focused on people-to-people diplomacy, cultural and educational exchanges, as well as cooperation in human resource training.

The CVCEC's contribution, sent to the relevant authorities, emphasizes the importance of elevating people-to-people diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, and education. These are considered pillars of Vietnam's soft power in the new era.

Phan Thi Quynh Trang, founding director of CVCEC, stated that people-to-people diplomacy, culture, and education are pillars of Vietnam's soft power in the new era.

Ms. Quynh Trang affirmed that this is a channel to expand international relations, spread Vietnamese identity, mobilize overseas intellectuals, and create international consensus for development goals by 2035, with a vision to 2045.

CVCEC also proposed the development of a National Program on Intellectual Overseas Vietnamese Diplomacy to mobilize the expertise of overseas Vietnamese professionals in policy-making, educational research, and cultural exchange.

According to Ms. Trang, the community of Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs abroad is a strategic resource, yet it has not been systematically mobilized.

A national program will facilitate the connection of intellect and technology, enhance cultural and educational exchanges, and contribute to policy-making.

Currently, the Council is implementing several successful models in Canada, such as collaborating with the Toronto City Education Department to expand Vietnamese language programs; partnering with universities in teacher training; organizing the flag-raising ceremony on September 2nd and international cultural and academic programs.

This outcome demonstrates that the intellectual and cultural diplomacy model can be effectively replicated in Vietnamese communities worldwide.

CVCEC also boldly proposed piloting a Vietnamese Cultural and Educational Center in North America to concentrate cultural activities, academic exchanges, and enhance Vietnam's presence in this vast region.

Ms. Trang believes that North America has a large Vietnamese community with a strong desire to preserve their culture. This will be a hub for academic and international educational exchanges, centralizing Vietnamese cultural and educational activities, creating a representative symbol for Vietnam, and increasing the nation's presence in the region.
