Enhancing the role of the Vietnamese community as a bridge

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovakia Pham Truong Giang affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Slovakia, though not large in number, is a vivid testament to the spirit of overcoming difficulties, the will to rise, adaptability, and always carries pride in the cultural and historical traditions of the nation.

During their time living, studying, working, and doing business in Slovakia, the community not only builds a stable life for their families but also becomes an integral part of the local society, making practical contributions to economic and social development as well as fostering the friendship between Vietnam and Slovakia.

The Ambassador emphasized that it is commendable that during the integration process, the Vietnamese community has always preserved core national values such as family affection, the spirit of learning, solidarity, diligence, and Vietnamese cultural identity, contributing to enriching Slovakia's diverse cultural landscape.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that after Vietnam and Slovakia upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in April 2026, the Vietnamese community will continue to play its role as a bridge between the two countries; meanwhile, the younger Vietnamese generation will continue the mission of connecting the two cultures and fostering the Vietnam-Slovakia friendship.

Today's "Vietnam Day" event is not only an occasion to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture to Slovakians and international friends but also an opportunity to send a meaningful message: Cultural diversity is a source of strength; successful integration accompanies the preservation of identity and is nurtured by understanding, respect, and sharing. The connection between different communities is the foundation for an open, tolerant, and sustainable society.

According to him, the large presence of visitors is evidence of the interest in Vietnamese culture as well as the affection and respect that Slovak society has for the Vietnamese community – the 14th ethnic minority officially recognized by the Slovak State.

Nguyen Duy Vu highly appreciated the role of the Vietnamské Korene - Cội nguồn Việt group, consisting of young Vietnamese born and raised in Slovakia, who proactively initiated and organized this year's program. This is a vivid testament to the continuity between generations, reflecting a Vietnamese community that is increasingly dynamic and integrated but always oriented towards its roots.
