Politburo Member, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung visits Hon Khoai Island on Vietnam's Southern frontier

WVR - Politburo member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung urged the functional forces on the island to pay special attention and effectively leverage the potential and advantages of Hon Khoai Island.

On July 6, as part of a working trip to Ca Mau Province, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, along with a central delegation, paid a working visit to Hon Khoai Island.

The delegation included Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders from the National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Public Security.

From Ca Mau Province, there was Central Committee Member, Provincial Party Secretary, and Head of the National Assembly Deputies Delegation Nguyen Ho Hai, along with leaders representing the government, military, and border forces...

At the Hon Khoai Island complex, Minister Le Hoai Trung and the central delegation, along with Ca Mau Province leaders, solemnly offered incense and flowers at the Hon Khoai Uprising Memorial, paying tribute to the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification.

The delegation conducted on-site surveys of key projects being implemented and inspected the coastal erosion situation on the island. They also listened to detailed reports from construction units and relevant authorities on progress, technical solutions for ensuring project safety, disaster mitigation, and efforts to protect the landscape and ecological environment.

Through the on-site survey, Minister Le Hoai Trung urged the functional forces on the island to pay special attention and effectively leverage the potential and advantages of Hon Khoai Island. He emphasized that strategies for planning and developing the marine economy here must always be closely linked with the mission of strengthening national defense and security capabilities in the Southwest Sea.

During the visit and working session at the Hon Khoai Border Post (Ca Mau Border Guard), the delegation received comprehensive reports on the management and protection of maritime border sovereignty, the results of border guard diplomacy, as well as the unique advantages and challenges faced in carrying out duties on this frontier island of the nation.

Speaking at the session, Minister Le Hoai Trung, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, acknowledged, highly appreciated, and commended the solidarity, resilience, and outstanding achievements of the border guard officers, armed forces, engineers, and workers on the island in recent times.

The Minister affirmed that the Party and State always pay special, comprehensive attention to the mission of protecting maritime and island sovereignty and security, while also caring for and improving the material and spiritual lives of the military and people on the frontline.

In the context of the new situation, the Minister requested that the forces continue to harness the combined strength of the entire political system, enhance combat readiness, and firmly manage and protect the maritime and island sovereignty of the nation in this new phase of development.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung presented 10 meaningful gifts to outstanding officers, soldiers, engineers, and workers who are steadfastly holding the island.

The Ministry of Defense leadership presented 3 gifts to units, enterprises, and workers performing duties on the island, thereby encouraging and motivating the officers, soldiers, and workers steadfastly stationed on this remote frontier island of the nation.
