The Ho Chi Minh Space is located at the center of the Vietnamese Embassy in Tanzania, occupying the most prestigious and beautiful spot, convenient for international friends and the Vietnamese community to admire, pay tribute, and offer flowers in memory of him.
Notably, the inauguration of this project is even more meaningful as it coincides with Independence Day, when Vietnamese people worldwide celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
The space not only holds significant cultural and historical value but also serves as a vibrant symbol of the enduring friendship and solidarity between the people of Vietnam and Tanzania, as well as the East African region. It further strengthens the traditional friendship and relations between Vietnam and its African friends.
The event was honoured by the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania Cosato David Chumi, Director of the Asia-Australia Department, along with many representatives from specialized departments of the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and numerous Ambassadors and Heads of diplomatic missions in Tanzania.

The event was supported by Halotel-Tanzania, Lumitel-Burundi, and the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in the region.
At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania Vu Thanh Huyen recounted significant historical milestones and the 80-year heroic journey of the Vietnamese nation, from when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, to the ongoing transformation in Vietnam today.
The Ambassador also recalled the beautiful friendship between President Ho Chi Minh and Tanzania's first President, Julius Nyerere, who consistently supported and stood by Vietnam.

The inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh Space at the Embassy premises brings the warmth of traditional friendship from the past, from the history between the two leaders of the two nations across two continents, as a reminder of the beautiful friendship and loyalty of the two leaders and peoples who have been connected since the early days of nation-building.
It also reaffirms Vietnam's desire to continue building and nurturing this precious and loyal friendship on its current and future development journey with Tanzania in particular and with countries in the East African region in general.
The year 2025 is also a pivotal year in Vietnam-Tanzania foreign relations, with the promotion of numerous working delegations and cooperation mechanisms, while celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In the East African region, Tanzania is Vietnam's oldest traditional friend.
2025 also marks significant anniversaries of diplomatic relations with several countries in the region: 55 years with Somalia, 50 years with Burundi, 50 years with Rwanda, and 30 years with Kenya.

Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen emphasized the importance of the 60-year diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Tanzania – a relationship built from challenging early days and now thriving in many areas. This relationship has also spread to other brotherly countries in the East African region.

As part of the activities commemorating diplomatic relations, the Embassy organized a Photo Exhibition on Vietnam-Tanzania diplomatic relations, showcasing documents, materials, and images of the historical journey and relations between the two countries.
To commemorate this historical milestone, the Vietnamese Embassy collaborated with local newspapers to publish a special edition celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day.
