Deputy Foreign Minister Le Anh Tuan receives outgoing Ethiopian Ambassador, discusses bilateral cooperation
WVR - On the morning of August 13, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan received Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Vietnam Dukamo Dessie Dalkie, for a farewell meeting on the occasion of the conclusion of his term.

Congratulating Ambassador Dukamo Dessie Dalkie on successfully completing his mission, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan highly appreciated the Ambassador's significant contributions in promoting the bilateral relations between the two countries in recent times. Notably, he contributed to the success of historic events that opened a new phase in bilateral relations, such as the first official visit to Vietnam and participation in the P4G Summit by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia in April 2025, and the grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Ethiopia held in Hanoi in February 2026.
Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan emphasised the remarkable growth in bilateral trade turnover and welcomed the first direct flight operated by Ethiopian Airlines connecting the capitals Addis Ababa and Hanoi, which officially commenced in July 2025, thus affirming the vast potential for cooperation between the two countries.

To further expand bilateral cooperation, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan expressed his desire for continued close coordination with the Ethiopian Embassy in enhancing delegation exchanges and high-level contacts. He also urged for an early agreement on the timing of the second Political Consultation session between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi, the prompt establishment of embassies in each country, and the completion of the legal framework to facilitate business and investment activities for enterprises from both nations.
Ambassador Dukamo Dessie Dalkie expressed gratitude to the Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan personally for their support and cooperation with the Ethiopian Embassy in successfully organizing historic events in the bilateral relationship.
Agreeing with the directions outlined by Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan, the Ethiopian Ambassador affirmed that the Ethiopian Embassy will continue efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries in political, trade, economic, and people-to-people exchanges, aiming for new developments in bilateral relations.
Expressing admiration for Vietnam's development achievements, especially in industrialization, digital transformation, and various other fields, Ambassador Dukamo Dessie Dalkie regarded Vietnam as a development model for African countries. To harness the potential for bilateral trade and investment, the Ethiopian Ambassador expressed a desire for more Vietnamese enterprises to invest and conduct business in Ethiopia, a gateway to the East African region. Ambassador Dukamo Dessie Dalkie also announced that Ethiopia will host the P4G Summit in 2027 and expressed hope that Vietnamese leaders will attend the event.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan requested that Ethiopia continue to facilitate the community and businesses of Vietnam living and operating in Ethiopia.
