The event was attended by Mr. Zheng Haibo, Director of the East Asia Department, Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Mr. Wu Jun, former Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Chen Guangjun, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province; Ms. Pham Hong Yen, representative of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou, along with numerous youths from both Vietnam and China.
Empowering the role of young generation
Speaking at the event, Ms. Pham Hong Yen, representative of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou, emphasized the crucial role of the youth from both countries in fostering the traditional Vietnam-China friendship. The “Red Journey of Research and Study” by Vietnamese youth in China is highlighted as a standout activity.
Through research activities, visits, exchanges, and practical experiences, the program facilitates Vietnamese and Chinese youth in gaining a deeper understanding of the historical relations between the two countries. It also provides a forum for the young generation to meet, exchange experiences, and enhance mutual understanding.
Ms. Pham Hong Yen also stressed that Guangdong is a significant location in China's history of patriotic and revolutionary movements in Vietnam, serving as a vivid and enduring testament to the friendship between the peoples of the two nations.
Notably, the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League and the Huanghuagang Cemetery Park are two historical sites with prominent imprints. By following these revolutionary footsteps, the young generations of Vietnam and China will acquire valuable materials to continue narrating vibrant stories of the traditional friendship cultivated by previous leaders and peoples of both nations, thereby strengthening and spreading the traditional cooperative friendship between Vietnam and China.

From historical imprints to modern Guangdong
For his part, Mr. Chen Guangjun, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, emphasized that the “Red Journey” program was initiated by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and General Secretary and President To Lam in 2025.
Since then, numerous activities have been successfully organized under the program. The “Red Journey of Research and Study” for Vietnamese youth in Guangzhou holds special significance as it is a place that preserves many historical imprints of the revolutionary struggles of both countries.
Beyond its historical significance, Guangdong is now one of China's foremost centers for economy, technology, and innovation. During the program, Vietnamese youth delegates will learn from Guangdong's experience in building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, as well as its processes of industrialization, urbanization, globalization, and greening.
Additionally, young Vietnamese delegates will visit and survey prominent high-tech enterprises in the province. The program, combining historical education with exploration and experience of modern Guangdong, will help the youth of both countries gain a better understanding of the past while discussing technology, digital economy, education, and innovation, thereby equipping them with knowledge to contribute more to Vietnam-China cooperation in the future.

| The “Red Journey of Research and Study” for Vietnamese youth in China is an activity aimed at realizing the shared understanding of the high-level leaders of both countries on enhancing people-to-people exchanges, especially among the younger generation. This event in Guangzhou is organized by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, taking place from August 24-28. The Vietnamese delegation consists of 45 members from central and local agencies and universities across the country, led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. With the theme “Inheriting Revolutionary Traditions – Experiencing Modern Achievements – Building a Cooperative Plan Together,” youth delegates from Vietnam and China will follow the revolutionary footsteps of President Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou. The program also brings delegates to visit high-tech enterprises and experience the modern infrastructure of Guangdong Province. |
