First National Great Unity Day for overseas Vietnamese community held in Kyushu, Japan

WVR - On November 16, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka (Japan) collaborated with the Association of Vietnamese in Fukuoka (AVF) to organize the National Great Unity Day for the Vietnamese community in Kyushu, Japan, and the Vietnamese Sports Festival in Kyushu 2025.

This marks the first time the National Great Unity Day has been held for the overseas Vietnamese community, aiming to strengthen unity, gather, and promote the power of national solidarity in the new era. It also implements the pilot project "National Great Unity Day for the Overseas Vietnamese Community" by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF).

The event was attended by Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai, along with all the staff of the Consulate General; Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Member of the Central Committee of the VFF, Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese in Fukuoka, Principal of GAG Japanese Language School, and General Secretary of the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Culture; representatives from Fukuoka Prefecture's International Affairs Department, and the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Fukuoka.

In her opening remarks, Consul General Vu Chi Mai emphasized that organizing the Great Unity Day and the sports festival aims to promote the tradition of national unity, strengthen the Vietnamese community in Japan, particularly in Kyushu. It also serves to promote the image of Vietnam's land, people, and culture to Japanese friends, combining cultural and sports exchanges, spreading Vietnamese identity in Japan, and contributing to building a united, integrated, and developing Vietnamese community in Kyushu, always oriented towards the homeland.

Organizing the Great Unity Day in Kyushu is not just a community activity but also an opportunity to strengthen national solidarity and awaken national pride in each expatriate.

The most emotional highlight of the day was the moment when over 1,000 Vietnamese simultaneously formed the Red Flag with a Yellow Star, comprising three large groups with 15 blocks representing 15 community components.

The Global Vietnamese Record Organization (VietWorld) awarded a record certificate for the "Event of Forming the Vietnamese National Flag in Japan with the Largest Number of Participants" to the Association of Vietnamese in Fukuoka and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka.

Expressing his emotions witnessing the unprecedented gathering of the Vietnamese community in Kyushu, Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh – Member of the Central Committee of the VFF, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Day, stated that the event was both an occasion for the community to meet, interact, and enjoy, and an opportunity to affirm something sacred: despite living far from the homeland, every Vietnamese carries the blood of Lac Hong and keeps their heart oriented towards their homeland.

The flag is not only a symbol of Vietnam but also a symbol of solidarity, pride, and community strength.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh affirmed that the annual Great Unity Day is not only a cultural event but also a place to strengthen bonds, connect associations, businesses, families, and the younger generation, so that overseas Vietnamese always find a common home.

At the event, the Central Committee of the VFF, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, commended and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in community building, strengthening solidarity, developing association movements, and actively contributing to preserving Vietnamese culture and language in Japan.

The awards aim to recognize the efforts of associations, businesses, volunteer groups, and expatriates who have accompanied for many years, actively supporting the spiritual, legal, educational, and cultural life of Vietnamese people in Kyushu.

This is also an encouragement for the community to continue promoting the spirit of mutual support, building the image of civilized, compassionate, united, and deeply integrated Vietnamese people in Japan.

The Sports Festival also attracted a large number of Vietnamese participants with events such as tug of war, sack race, relay race, throwing, shuttlecock kicking, and the 2nd Kyushu Football Tournament. Vietnamese food stalls and play areas created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the event.

The National Great Unity Day in Kyushu 2025 is not only a large-scale community activity but also a symbol of the Vietnamese spirit in Japan.

From the National Flag formed by 1,000 Vietnamese to the unified cheers echoing under the Fukuoka sky, the event left a strong impression of love for the homeland and the spirit of national unity.
