Strong Digital Platforms, But Teachers Make the Difference
Technological advancements, from online learning resources to AI-driven tools, are opening vast doors of knowledge for education. However, the actual value of technology is realised only with the hands and minds of teachers – those who creatively apply it to meet the specific needs of each student. Therefore, "digital literacy for all" goes beyond just providing platforms or devices; enhancing teachers' digital competencies is crucial.

Addressing the conference on the "Nationwide Movement for Innovation and Digital Transformation" and "Digital Literacy for All" in the Education sector, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc emphasised: "Every staff member and teacher is a pioneer in learning and applying digital technology in teaching and work. At the same time, they are also active nuclei spreading digital knowledge and skills to the community."
Khan Academy Vietnam: Empowering Teachers with Digital Skills
With the mission to support the "digital literacy for all" movement, Khan Academy Vietnam (KAV) provides free learning resources for students. It focuses on enhancing digital skills for teachers, who directly determine the effectiveness of technology in the classroom. In 2023, KAV localised the "AI in Education" course, helping thousands of teachers familiarise themselves with foundational knowledge and practice applying AI in teaching. This is an important starting point, opening opportunities for teachers to use technology and confidently guide students into the digital era.
In the upcoming phase, KAV will continue to expand AI courses and implement Khanmigo – an AI assistant dedicated to general education. Khanmigo is a powerful tool for teachers, from quickly preparing lesson plans, designing differentiated exercises, and suggesting creative teaching methods, to analysing learning data to adjust teaching methods more appropriately.
Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thủy, a primary school teacher at Hợp Hòa (Tuyên Quang), shared after experiencing teaching and learning management on the Khan Academy platform: "I find the assignment feature on the platform very flexible; the whole class doesn't have to study and practice the same type of exercise. Weaker students can do basic exercises, while more advanced students have challenging tasks. This was difficult to achieve with traditional teaching methods."
Thus, technology truly holds value when combined with pedagogical skills and teachers' creativity. Additionally, with digital platforms like Khan Academy, technology is brought into the classroom and helps teachers confidently develop digital skills, opening up more personalised, equitable, and effective learning sessions. When teachers master technology, students are the biggest beneficiaries, gaining access to modern, high-quality, and personalised learning opportunities.

Simultaneously, teachers also become "digital skills guides" for students. Through each exercise and AI or digital tool application activity, students learn and develop essential skills to enter the digital era: knowing how to exploit, create, and think critically to apply technology appropriately in their learning process.
Teachers – The Core for Realising "Digital Literacy for All"
No digital transformation movement in the education sector can succeed without the leadership role of teachers. It is teachers who turn technology into a useful tool, delivering knowledge to each student suitably and effectively. With the support of Khan Academy Vietnam and advanced AI tools like Khanmigo, Vietnamese teachers have a comprehensive ecosystem to approach, apply, and innovate teaching methods confidently.
When every teacher becomes a nucleus spreading digital skills, from urban classrooms to remote areas, "digital literacy for all" will not just be a slogan. It will become a reality where every Vietnamese student can access equitable, modern, and digitally-aligned learning.
