On the afternoon of December 29, at the National Conference to review Diplomatic Sector activities in 2025, outlining directions and key tasks for 2026, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan presented a report.
According to the Deputy Minister, in 2025, amidst a highly volatile global context, the diplomatic sector effectively took the lead and collaborated with various ministries, especially the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to expand and deepen economic, trade, industrial, and energy cooperation with partners, from traditional to emerging ones. They coordinated to promptly address numerous new issues arising in trade, market access, technical barriers, and trade defense to protect the legitimate interests of Vietnamese enterprises abroad.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other ministries to promote substantive economic diplomacy, aligned with the country's development requirements and growth objectives.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade appreciates the increasingly close, flexible, and effective coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam's representative missions abroad, and domestic ministries, sectors, and localities, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the spirit of diplomacy serving development,” Deputy Minister Nhat Tan emphasized.

First, collaborate to seek, access, and promote production cooperation and technology transfer in the exploitation and processing of strategic resources to serve the country's energy development, industrial production, and export in the upcoming period.
Second, promote cooperation to diversify sources of raw materials, input minerals, and energy to meet the domestic production, consumption, and economic development needs.
Third, collaborate to review, research, and promptly identify strategic changes in foreign markets that impact Vietnam's economic cooperation and trade flows to propose timely policy response measures.
Fourth, closely coordinate in multilateral diplomacy to proactively participate in reshaping regional and global multilateral economic cooperation mechanisms, aligning with Vietnam's interests.
Fifth, collaborate to mobilize, attract, and leverage resources from foreign partners to facilitate policies and maximize the benefits and efficiency of foreign trade activities, serving the strategy of diversifying export and import markets and domestic economic development.
Sixth, enhance coordination in addressing sensitive and emerging trade issues, including trade defense, countervailing duties, carbon taxes, environmental-social standards, traceability requirements, green transition, and digital transformation in international trade.
Seventh, continue to support and facilitate the Ministry of Industry and Trade in establishing new trade missions at foreign diplomatic missions and the professional work of trade missions, serving the overall promotion of economic, trade, and industrial cooperation between Vietnam and host countries.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade will earnestly implement the directives of the Prime Minister at today's Conference and commits to continue close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, maximizing the combined strength of foreign relations and the economy, contributing practically to the goal of rapid, sustainable development and enhancing Vietnam's position on the international stage,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized.
