The meeting took place in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere, with a focus on achieving sustainable development and green growth goals.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc highly appreciated this year's Forum theme – “Green Growth, Digital Transformation, and Renewable Energy” – aligning with Ho Chi Minh City's new development orientation following administrative mergers and regional spatial planning. Accordingly, Binh Duong will be the “industrial capital”, Ba Ria – Vung Tau the maritime economic centre, while Ho Chi Minh City will serve as the hub for high technology, innovation, semiconductor development, and Big Data.

The city leader affirmed that cooperation between Vietnam and Italy, in general, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Italian localities and businesses, in particular, has yielded many positive results in recent times. Ho Chi Minh City always regards Italy as an important economic partner and hopes the Italian Embassy will continue to introduce the city's potential, strengths, and investment opportunities to the Italian business community.
“The Ho Chi Minh City government is always ready to accompany and support businesses, including Italian enterprises, especially in areas where Italy has strengths such as precision mechanics, clean energy, and green finance,” Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc emphasised.

On Italy's side, Ambassador Marco Della Seta expressed deep admiration for the dynamic development of Ho Chi Minh City and the Binh Duong region, noting that this area holds significant potential for cooperation in high technology, logistics, shipbuilding, and finance. He observed that Ho Chi Minh City is gradually becoming a significant financial centre in the region – an area of particular interest to Italian businesses.
The Ambassador affirmed that in the coming period, the Italian Embassy in Vietnam and the Italian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to support and connect businesses from both countries in the fields of investment, trade, and innovation.
| The 9th ASEAN–Italy High-Level Economic Dialogue Forum takes place from November 12 to 14, 2025, at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the chairmanship of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, The European House-Ambrosetti, and the Italy-ASEAN Association, with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat and Becamex Corporation. The event attracts over 500 delegates, including leaders from ministries, localities, international organisations, diplomatic agencies, businesses, and experts from ASEAN and Italy. This is also the first time the forum is held after Ho Chi Minh City merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, reflecting the spirit of inheritance and responsibility in international cooperation of the “new Ho Chi Minh City”. The dialogue sessions focus on the prospects of ASEAN–Italy economic cooperation, green and sustainable development strategies, high technology, digital transformation, and solutions to unlock investment potential between the two regions. Italy is currently a major trade partner of Vietnam within the European Union (EU), with bilateral trade reaching approximately USD 4.3 billion in the first seven months of 2025, up 5.1% compared to the same period in 2024. Italy currently has 162 investment projects in Vietnam, with total registered capital exceeding USD 624 million, focusing on precision mechanics, building materials, energy, and environmental technology. This event contributes to consolidating the Vietnam–Italy Strategic Partnership, established by the two countries in 2013, with the aim of promoting green economic development, innovation, and sustainable cooperation in the ASEAN region. |
