VFF delegation promotes people-to-people diplomacy, strengthens ties with overseas Vietnamese business, expert, and intellectual communities in RoK
WVR - From July 19-21, a high-level delegation from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) conducted a working program in the Republic of Korea (RoK) with local agencies, organizations, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea, the Vietnamese community, the Vietnam-Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA), and the Vietnam-Korea Expert and Intellectual Association (VKEIA).

The mission contributed to effectively implementing the Party's foreign policy, promoting the role of people-to-people diplomacy, enhancing the great national unity bloc, and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
On the first working day, the delegation visited the Songdo International Business District (Incheon) to learn about the smart city model, digital economy development experience, digital transformation, free economic zones, and the innovation ecosystem. The delegation also worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea, received reports on the situation of the Vietnamese community and citizen protection work; and met with representatives of Vietnamese associations in the Republic of Korea, acknowledging the community's positive contributions to national development and fostering friendly relations between the two countries.
The delegation leaders expressed their hope that the community would continue to uphold the tradition of solidarity, remain connected to their homeland, integrate deeply, and make practical contributions to the development of both Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

On July 20, the delegation worked with the Economic, Social and Labour Council of the Republic of Korea (ESLC). Both sides highly appreciated the cooperation results achieved in recent times, especially in exchanging experiences on social dialogue, policy consultation, and building social consensus.
The visit took place right after the successful conclusion of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, opening a new phase of cooperation in people-to-people diplomacy between the two agencies.
During the meeting, ESLC Chairman Kim Ji Hyung affirmed that since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea have become close partners in many fields.
He emphasized that with about 350,000 Vietnamese living in the Republic of Korea and over 10,000 Korean enterprises operating in Vietnam, social consensus and public trust are crucial foundations for sustainable development.
The ESLC Chairman also highly valued the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in gathering and reflecting the people's opinions and promoting social consensus – a value that both agencies aim for.
During the talks, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Hoang Cong Thuy proposed two key cooperation directions in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) expected to be signed in early 2027, including strengthening delegation exchanges, sharing experiences, and cooperating in research, policy dialogue on social dialogue, supervision, social criticism, innovation, and digital transformation.
ESLC Secretary-General Lee Jung Han expressed high agreement, affirming close coordination to build a long-term, substantive cooperative relationship between the two agencies.

Within the framework of the mission, the delegation also worked with VKBIA. Reporting to the delegation, Dr. Tran Hai Linh, Chairman of VKBIA and founding Chairman of VKEIA, stated that the association has implemented many activities to connect investment, trade, technology transfer, innovation, human resource training, and local cooperation, contributing to promoting increasingly substantive and effective Vietnam-Republic of Korea economic cooperation.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy highly appreciated VKBIA's role as a bridge in connecting businesses, localities, and people of the two countries.
He acknowledged the association's practical activities in investment promotion, technology transfer, cultural exchange, community support, and many programs oriented towards the homeland, such as supporting compatriots affected by natural disasters, epidemics, and focusing on the sea and islands; and suggested that VKBIA continue to promote its strategic connection role, expand the network of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, experts, intellectuals, and youth in the Republic of Korea, contributing to effectively mobilizing overseas Vietnamese resources for national development.

On behalf of VKBIA and VKEIA, Dr. Tran Hai Linh affirmed the commitment to continue accompanying the Vietnam Fatherland Front programs in people-to-people diplomacy, business connection, investment promotion, science and technology cooperation, high-quality human resource development, and strengthening the great national unity bloc.
He also suggested continuing to improve coordination mechanisms so that Vietnamese business, expert, and intellectual associations abroad can more effectively play the role of a bridge between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland.
The mission achieved many practical results, further affirming the role of people-to-people diplomacy in consolidating trust, enhancing understanding, and promoting comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, while leveraging the strength of the overseas Vietnamese community, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new phase.
