AMM 59: Vietnam, Netherlands Foreign Ministers expand cooperation in semiconductors and high technology

Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his gratitude for the valuable support the Netherlands has extended to Vietnam over the decades, particularly in education and training. The Minister emphasized that the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted is a vivid symbol of the friendship and educational cooperation between the two countries. He expressed a desire for the Netherlands to continue expanding training programs, academic exchanges, and the development of high-quality human resources for Vietnam.

Minister Tom Berendsen praised Vietnam's developmental achievements, noting that political and social stability, along with an increasingly refined legal system, are significant advantages that help Vietnam continue to attract high-quality investment flows, including from Dutch and European enterprises.

Discussing bilateral relations, the two Ministers agreed to continue enhancing exchanges at all levels, especially high-level visits. They also agreed to coordinate the organization of the 9th meeting of the Vietnam-Netherlands Intergovernmental Committee on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management in Vietnam.

Minister Le Hoai Trung urged the Netherlands to promptly ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), thereby facilitating economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides particularly emphasised the potential for cooperation in semiconductors and high technology. They agreed to promote the establishment of a cooperation framework in semiconductors, the training of high-quality technical human resources, research and development, and the connection of the innovation ecosystem.

The two Ministers discussed the possibility of enhancing cooperation between the National Innovation Center, Viettel, and ASML, as well as Dutch enterprises, research institutions, and training centers. This collaboration aims to contribute to the development of the semiconductor industry and enhance Vietnam's technological capabilities.
