Danang University of Science and Technology hosts Announcement Ceremony of developing engineering curricula

This is the first time that Vietnam’s 7 leading universities in the fields of science and technology have signed an agreement to build common principles in the development of engineering curricula. Accordingly, the engineering curricula will be built in the direction of professional orientation with the input, output standards and knowledge that is guaranteed to be equivalent to the master’s level, reaching level 7 of the National Qualifications Framework.
The ceremony drew the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy – Acting Director of the Department of Higher Education – Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the UD, Prof. Dr. Bui Van Ga – former Vice Minister of the MOET, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam – former President of the UD, Rectors of 7 universities joining the agreement signing, and representatives of universities, businesses and partners.

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Quang Vinh – Rector of the UD’s University of Science and Technology which is the event’s host, emphasized the significance of the cooperation among Vietnam’s leading and pioneering universities to improve the training quality to meet the needs of businesses and the society in the context of international integration and the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The agreement of quality standards for curricula not only has positive meaning to learners and domestic enterprises but also standardizes and enhances the value of traditional engineering diplomas in the Vietnam’s higher education, especially during the process of integration and competition with foreign higher education institutions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy – Acting Director of the MOET’s Department of Higher Education, noted and highly appreciated the innovative spirit of Vietnam’s 7 leading engineering universities in the development of criteria and standards approaching international levels, considering this as a “pioneering direction to improve the curricula quality to meet the requirements of the domestic and international labor markets, which is expected to have an influence on the whole education system”.
Rectors of 7 leading engineering universities of Vietnam include: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Quang Vinh (University of Science and Technology – the UD), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong (University of Technology – VNU HCMC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa (National University of Civil Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long (University of Transport and Communications), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu (Water Resources University), and Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Hai (Hanoi University of Mining and Geology) signed a joint announcement with the attendance of the representatives of the MOET, the UD and numerous partners, businesses.

According to the joint announcement, the participating universities will cooperate to develop an engineering curricula standard in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework, as well as announce a roadmap which is suitable for specific characteristics and can be applied for training programs based on each university’s practical conditions to meet the needs and aspirations of students.

The announcement ceremony affirms the determination of Vietnam’s leading engineering universities to continue improving the training quality for all engineering and technology sectors to consolidate and enhance the prestige and value of traditional engineering degrees, which promotes the competitiveness and international integration of Vietnam’s high quality human resources in the regional and global labor markets.
