Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Do Hung Viet provided an overview of the preparations for the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, emphasizing its significance in summarizing 40 years of Renovation, evaluating the implementation of the 13th Congress's resolutions, and setting goals and development directions for the country in the coming period.
The Ambassador highlighted several noteworthy new points in this Congress's documents, including "three strategic breakthroughs" to propel the nation forward in the new era – completing the institutional framework, developing human resources, and accelerating infrastructure development; establishing a new growth model driven by science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; recognizing the private economy as a crucial driver of the economy; and identifying environmental protection alongside socio-economic development as a central task.

He affirmed that Vietnam continues to steadfastly pursue a policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development; diversifying and multilateralizing foreign relations; ensuring equality and mutual benefit; being a friend, reliable partner, and active, responsible member of the international community; and upholding the highest national interests based on fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter.
On this occasion, Ambassador Do Hung Viet also shared some updates on Vietnam's socio-economic development and foreign achievements in 2025.

Responding to questions from international news agencies about Vietnam's priorities at the United Nations in 2026, Ambassador Do Hung Viet affirmed that Vietnam continues to strongly support multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in the global governance system. He stated that Vietnam intends to participate more proactively and positively in addressing global challenges, including striving to fulfill its role as Chair of the Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in April-May 2026.
