On January 13, at the headquarters of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) in New York City, Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, held a meeting with Joe Sims, Co-Chair of the Party, and several key leaders of CPUSA. They discussed preparations for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, international and national situations, and ways to strengthen cooperative relations between the two Parties in the future.
During the meeting, Ambassador Viet provided an overview of the preparations and major orientations of the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He emphasized that this is a significant event in summarizing 40 years of Renewal, evaluating the results of the 13th National Party Congress Resolution, and setting development goals for the next phase.
In terms of foreign affairs, Ambassador Viet shared that Vietnam remains steadfast in its policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. The country continues to diversify and multilateralize its foreign relations, ensuring the highest national interests based on the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter. Vietnam aims for equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, being a friend, a reliable partner, and an active, responsible member of the international community, actively participating in addressing common regional and global issues.
The Ambassador emphasized that in the new context, the documents are expected to include many important additions with some breakthrough directives on foreign affairs and international integration, notably the viewpoint that "enhancing national defense, security, and promoting foreign relations and international integration are essential and regular tasks".

Comrade Joe Sims, Co-Chair of CPUSA, expressed his delight and deep impression with the success of the Vietnamese Revolution, highly appreciating the significant and comprehensive achievements Vietnam has made in building and developing the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam over the past decades.
CPUSA leaders emphasized that Vietnam's development results not only demonstrate the courage, intelligence, and correct path of the Communist Party of Vietnam but also vividly prove the vitality of the development path Vietnam has chosen.
On this basis, CPUSA expressed pride and confidence that the 14th Congress will continue to create new momentum, ushering in an era of outstanding development, propelling Vietnam forward rapidly and sustainably, improving the people's well-being and happiness, and continuously enhancing the country's position.
Discussing international and local situations, especially current emerging issues related to peace and security, both sides shared views emphasizing international law, multilateralism, and the role of the UN. They highlighted the importance of promoting voices for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, agreeing that strengthening connections among progressive forces, the workers' movement, and the peace movement is meaningful, contributing to consolidating the social foundation supporting international cooperation and respecting the principles of the UN Charter.

On this occasion, Joe Sims handed Ambassador Viet a congratulatory letter for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, expressing friendship, solidarity, and the desire for the two Parties to continue enhancing exchanges and cooperation in the future.
Ambassador Viet thanked the CPUSA leadership for their warm reception, affirming that Vietnam values and wishes to further develop friendly and cooperative relations with CPUSA, considering it an important channel to deepen the understanding and affection between the peoples of the two countries.
The Ambassador requested CPUSA's cooperation in providing documents, photos, and historical artifacts about the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and CPUSA to serve Vietnam's collection and exhibition efforts in building the Communist Party of Vietnam Museum, towards the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding. CPUSA leaders affirmed their readiness to support and will coordinate with the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN to implement this important and meaningful task.
