On February 26 and March 3, on the occasion of the 2026 Lunar New Year, the Embassy collaborated with the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and the Veterans Association of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (VARBAF) to organize events introducing the traditional Vietnamese New Year customs, while promoting the Vietnamese language and traditional handicrafts to friends and students in Brunei.
The events saw active contributions from the Community Liaison Committee, representatives of the Vietnamese community, and businesses in the area.
During the event, UBD students participated in decorating apricot and peach blossoms and Vietnamese New Year landscapes under the guidance of Ambassador's spouse Le Thi Hong Ngoan, embassy staff, community representatives, and Yi's Nation business members.
Some students creatively combined batik patterns and traditional Brunei motifs with Vietnamese cultural and handicraft products, thereby emphasizing the cultural exchange significance of the program.
Dr. Tran Trong Nghia, a Vietnamese language lecturer at UBD, stated that the integration of teaching and exploring Vietnamese culture received positive feedback from students and the Brunei youth. Teaching Vietnamese in Brunei has helped spread the essence and cultural values of Vietnam, which is also the goal of the Vietnamese language program at UBD.
The cultural experience events have provided Brunei students the opportunity to directly engage with Vietnamese cultural values and people, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of Vietnam and the cultural exchange significance between the two countries.

Major Hajah Rosnani, Secretary-General of the Veterans Association of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and VARBAF members highly appreciated the cultural promotion and connection activities between Vietnam and Brunei, especially highlighting the cultural intersection and shared values of family traditions, customs, and sentiments between the peoples of the two countries through Vietnam's Lunar New Year customs and the Muslim Hari Raya Festival.
Many veteran spouses expressed a desire to learn more about the traditional Vietnamese betel offering custom after being introduced to the significance of betel leaves prepared with lime and chay bark to create a deep red color, symbolizing luck, warmth, and the enduring marital bond in Vietnamese culture.
Major Hajah Rosnani hopes the Embassy and VARBAF will continue to collaborate in organizing cultural connection activities and guiding the creation of handicraft products.
This is not only a cultural introduction activity but also an opportunity for women from both countries to interact, share, and strengthen bonds through practical experiences, while handicraft products can be used for charitable purposes.
Additionally, VARBAF also wishes to enhance connections with the Embassy and the Vietnam Veterans Association in promoting the Halal sector and Halal industry cooperation between Vietnam and Brunei.
